Hi there. In this short education post, I would like to talk about not having high expectations of young students as well as kids being random. You never know what young kids and students can do at any given time. Not every kid is raised properly or they have not grown fully.
Kids Are Still Growing
Not a lot should be expected from kids and young students. It is because they are still growing physically and emotionally. There are times when kids may say or do things they do not really mean. Let them try things and allow them to learn from mistakes.
Some Have A Lot of Energy
With some young kids, I do wonder how some of them are so energetic and ready to learn. Some can also be energetic and distracted. Is it sugar? Is it healthy eating or is it their personalities? Be prepared for energetic types as they can be loud and may hurt your ears. Do remember to help the student and be focused as an educator.
Some Kids Are Naughty
There are cases where parents send their kids to after school educational services such as Kumon or tutoring. The parents want their kid(s) to do better but the kids may not agree. Kids could resist by being either lazy, defiant and even naughty. Learning may not seem like a big priority for some of them.
As an educator and employee in the private sector in educational services, I would like to see the kids make use of the time and their parents' money. It is kind of hard to see paid educational lessons being misused. However that is on the parents and the family. Educators can only do so much. There is one saying that goes When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

I may not be licensed teacher but I do have a bit of teaching experience and knowledge from working as a tutor, teaching assistant and as an instructor in the private educational services. There are a wide variety of personalities in the kids and students. As much I would like some students work and learn in a certain way, it is more natural and better to work with the student strengths and weaknesses. Accept the students as they are and help them improve and learn. If a student is not willing to learn do what you can to help the student learn.
