Road Safety Education Training from the Classroom: It is better to be safe than sorry.

Education these days seeks the transformation of a new human being, who has a significant learning, so that he can put into practice in a society that every day loses more and more values and good habits.

Nowadays, efforts are made to make education a transversal axis, so that the student can learn and develop an analytical and critical thinking to face life, and contribute to be a good citizen.

It is worth mentioning that the Municipality of Córdoba (Argentina), together with the coordination of the Directorate of Learning and Professional Development, the General Directorate of Education, the Sub-Directorate of Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety Education, and the Secretariat of Urban Mobility of the Municipality of the city of Córdoba, held a course for teachers as Trainers in Road Safety Education, with the participation of more than 130 regular and substitute educators from the initial and primary levels of the education system.

It should be noted that Road Safety Education is of utmost importance, since it is part of a comprehensive training process, in which a person is educated for the proper, responsible, participatory and supportive use of public roads. In such a way, what is sought with this education is to be able to have a multiplying result in the teachers, at the moment of teaching their students and through them to their family environment.

We can also say that the Road Education Train the Trainer course, which was addressed to teachers, focuses on road safety and is especially important because citizens demand more education and information on all the rules governing traffic, so that there is an awareness of the different preventive measures.

The purpose of this activity is to train teachers in road safety and the most modern pedagogical techniques so that road safety can be transformed into road education in the classroom. In such a way that we can begin to lower the levels of road accidents, which cause much pain around the world for the loss of a loved one.

To conclude, we can mention that the course may have a blended mode, having face-to-face meetings in compliance with health protocols due to the pandemic, as well as synchronous virtual meetings. The course will cover different topics such as: traffic as a problem; traffic and risk factors of road accidents; safety advertising campaigns and road safety education, among others.
