Oh, time went so quickly, I've been busy last week helping a friend with her grade work and didn't realize how fast the time passed.
Hi! I want to participate in the Your Most Favorite Fictional Character(s) contest which is not an easy thing to do, it's been difficult to choose, I mean, I love many movies for different reasons and I like characters in that context mostly, as a whole, but pick a character for its' own rights is another story.

Hola! Quiero participar en el concurso de Tu(s) personaje(s) de ficción más favorito(s) lo cual no es algo fácil de hacer, ha sido difícil elegir, es decir, me encantan muchas películas por diferentes razones y me gustan los personajes en ese contexto sobre todo, como un todo, pero elegir un personaje por derecho propio es otra historia.

There was a race for me choosing this one, in my memory, because all the names went away when I tried to remember my favorite ones and then chose between them. But I managed to choose one character, it's not even a fantastic one, as a fan as I'm of fantastic worlds, the ones that get more to me are the ones deeply grounded in reality or in the possibilities of reality. This is why my favorite character is:

Leigh Anne Tuohy
Portrayed by the amazing Sandra Bullock (Who also portrays a big part of my favorite characters, she's that great), Leigh is a businesswoman, and interior designer, who loves American football, she and her family are all into sports and love their alma mater. She was a cheerleader, her husband a player, and her children are going the same way.
She has a lifestyle that is usually held by people with very low social consciousness and caring for others. She wasn't like that, she had a very strong character and spirit to get what she want, but what she wanted might be a contract, or change forever the life of a vulnerable kid.
Interpretada por la increíble Sandra Bullock (que también interpreta a gran parte de mis personajes favoritos, es así de genial), Leigh es una mujer de negocios y diseñadora de interiores, a la que le encanta el fútbol americano, ella y su familia están metidos en el deporte y aman su alma mater. Ella fue animadora, su marido jugador, y sus hijos van por el mismo camino.
Ella tiene un estilo de vida que suelen tener las personas con muy poca conciencia social y preocupación por los demás. Ella no era así, tenía un carácter y un espíritu muy fuerte para conseguir lo que quería, pero lo que quería podía ser un contrato, o cambiar para siempre la vida de un niño vulnerable.
The movie is The blind side (2009), and it's about a homeless student, Michael Oher, who doesn't know his father, her mother can't take care of him, and he stays at the school to sleep because he doesn't have a home. He has very bad grades but is a nice kid and is a great football player. He's a very big Black-American teenager, might look a bit scary to get him into your house if you don't know him (we are talking about a place and time with a lot of racism) but what Leigh saw was a kid, with no home, with no one willing to give him a hand because they were scared of him or looked at him as a lost cause just because of his background.
La película es The blind side (2009), y trata de un estudiante sin hogar, Michael Oher, que no conoce a su padre, su madre no puede hacerse cargo de él, y se queda en la escuela a dormir porque no tiene casa. Tiene muy malas notas pero es un buen chico y es un gran jugador de fútbol. Es un adolescente negro-estadounidense muy grande, puede dar un poco de miedo meterlo en tu casa si no lo conoces (estamos hablando de un lugar y una época con mucho racismo) pero lo que Leigh vio fue un chico, sin hogar, sin nadie dispuesto a echarle una mano porque le tenían miedo o lo miraban como una causa perdida sólo por su origen.
Leigh Tuohy decided that she wanted to make the world different for him and she did, she asked him to go home with them one night she saw him walking alone in the rain to pass the night in the gym of the school. Her daughter was a bit confused but accepted him without bad looks and his son was having a great time of his life by teaching Michael how to play.
Leigh Tuohy decidió que quería hacer el mundo diferente para él y lo hizo, le pidió que se fuera a casa con ellos una noche que lo vio caminar solo bajo la lluvia para pasar la noche en el gimnasio de la escuela. She was very respectful, she forced him to do what he wanted, not what she wanted, she gave him opportunities and made him do his best with them. Once she asked if he liked his nickname, Big Mike, he didn't, just got used to it, so she stopped calling him like that and used his full name instead, Michael, and what a difference in someone's life can make to be heard, he soon learned that he can speak for himself and defend himself with his words.
Era muy respetuosa, le obligaba a hacer lo que él quería, no lo que ella quería, le daba oportunidades y le hacía dar lo mejor de sí mismo con ellas. Una vez le preguntó si le gustaba su apodo, Big Mike, no le gustaba, simplemente se acostumbró a él, así que ella dejó de llamarle así y utilizó su nombre completo en su lugar, Michael, y qué diferencia puede suponer en la vida de alguien ser escuchado, pronto aprendió que puede hablar por sí mismo y defenderse con sus palabras.
Leigh got to take Michael from a homeless boy to a graduated and successful football player, because she used her power to make good, not to brag about it. This character was a mom, and not just to her kids but to Michael, and he started to call her that way, even being that old when they meet, because she earned it.
Leigh consiguió que Michael pasara de ser un chico sin hogar a un jugador de fútbol graduado y con éxito, porque utilizó su poder para hacer el bien, no para presumir de ello. Este personaje fue una mamá, y no sólo para sus hijos sino para Michael, y él empezó a llamarla así, aún siendo tan mayor cuando se conocen, porque se lo ganó.
On their way to grow as a family and Michael to a professional player, many obstacles came into, his grades and people were a big problem, so she step in to give him the support to get his grades up, with tutors and talking to him. The people were other story. They came to talk to Michael, with social services, not asking about how he feels but pointing out how the Touhy were forcing him to play football and choose their team to play with. They told him that he was being used and he believed that for a moment, but Leigh understood were this thoughts might come from and validated them, but explained that wasn't the case and that she wanted him to do what he loved and he was free to join the team he wants, but of course she wants him in their family team, all of them went there and his now family too. It cleared up the doubts and he joined the team because it's were his family goes.
En su camino para crecer como familia y para que Michael se convierta en un jugador profesional, surgieron muchos obstáculos, sus calificaciones y la gente fueron un gran problema, así que ella intervino para darle el apoyo para subir sus calificaciones, con tutores y hablando con él. La gente era otra historia. Vinieron a hablar con Michael, con los servicios sociales, no le preguntaron cómo se sentía sino que le señalaron cómo los Touhy le obligaban a jugar al fútbol y a elegir su equipo para jugar. Le dijeron que le estaban utilizando y él lo creyó por un momento, pero Leigh entendió de dónde podían venir esos pensamientos y los validó, pero le explicó que no era así y que ella quería que hiciera lo que le gustaba y que era libre de unirse al equipo que quisiera, pero por supuesto que ella lo quería en su equipo familiar, todos iban allí y su ahora familia también. Eso aclaró las dudas y se unió al equipo porque es donde va su familia.
I admire this character because helping a teenager like him and adopting him, fighting against a society that she was deeply into, remember she's an interior designer, wasn't an easy decision, but she made it. She even went to find his real mom so there weren't shadows in their relationship.
Admiro a este personaje porque ayudar a un adolescente como él y adoptarlo, luchando contra una sociedad en la que ella estaba muy metida, recordemos que es diseñadora de interiores, no fue una decisión fácil, pero la tomó. Incluso fue a buscar a su verdadera madre para que no hubiera sombras en su relación.
The greatest part about this is that this story is based on the real story of Michael Oher, a professional American football player; Leigh Anne, and Sean Tuohy (her husband) actually exist and adopted him after a time of supporting him and being familiarized with his problematic childhood.
This might not be entirely a fictional character, but the way Sandra Bullock portrayed her is one of the reasons this story got to be so famous and touch so many people despite not being into American football nor knowing who Michael Oher was.
Lo mejor de todo es que esta historia está basada en la historia real de Michael Oher, un jugador profesional de fútbol americano; Leigh Anne, y Sean Tuohy (su marido) realmente existen y lo adoptaron después de un tiempo de apoyarlo y familiarizarse con su problemática infancia.
Puede que no sea del todo un personaje de ficción, pero la forma en que Sandra Bullock la retrató es una de las razones por las que esta historia llegó a ser tan famosa conmover a tanta gente, a pesar de que no estuvieran metidos en el fútbol americano ni supieran quién era Michael Oher.
