How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (2019-) | Netflix
A truly underrated gem of German Netflix.
one of my favorite subgenres is IT series and movies, so the series' weird "clickbait" title and the satire of technology seen in the first season trailer was enough to get me arouse curiosity and start it. Three seasons later, I still haven't had enough of this universe, and I'm looking forward to the just-announced fourth season.
The story is about a senior high school student, Moritz, who in order to win back the love of his ex-girlfriend, starts selling drugs online. The online store he builds develops much faster than he expects, with various uncontrollable consequences.
Initially, the photography and editing really mesmerized me. At least half of the series takes place in the "digital" world with the characters using cell phones and computers, texting, stalking each other, reading forums, programming and using command prompts, but surprisingly, as boring as they sound all this, the editors and the special effects crew have given change, making all this not only engaging, but also necessary to get into the psyche of each character.
Moreover, in true Mr. Robot spirit, all the tech-related sequences are realistic, with bitcoin laundering and turning them into cash, Wi-Fi hacking, dark web, and using Signal among others. In addition to Mr. Robot, the series is very much inspired by Breaking Bad and this shows both in the script and in some easter eggs, however it is much more comedic.
The only bad point is some in my opinion pointless animal cruelty scenes to make the bad guys more hateful.
I don't want to say more so as not to spoil it for those who want to see it, if you want to check it out and please watch it in German with subtitles for the best experience (originally the English dub had the original actors but for some strange reason they removed it)
