The long awaited second season of the TV series "House of the Dragon," is set to premiere on June 16, 2024, has been received with enthusiasm by its devoted fan base all over the internet, as they feel the excitement of the continuation of the Targaryen Civil War, hell breaks loose on which a paradise like world called the Dance of the Dragons. The upcoming season features not only draconic battles but some mortal struggle and family issues as well, this TV series created on the basis of George R. R. Martin’s novel 'Fire & Blood', tells the story of the Targaryen dynasty's inner battles and the war for the Iron Throne, who would have guess coming from Game of Thrones Universe. The second trailer of the Season 2 has already dropped, and we can see some hints of the story line of this season and it looks like the perfect advertisement for a bloody Dragon Fight, on Season 1 we already saw Vegar destroy Arrax who at the time was ride by Lucerys Velaryon son of Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Season 2 opens in the wake of the events of Season 1, where King Viserys I Targaryen died, setting up the kingdom with drama and chaos, but most important what sets the war is the murder of Lycerys Velaryon, until then it was not fully confirm and negotiations were still going on, according to the trailer, the season picks up the pace real fast with multiple massive battles between men on the ground and dragons in the air. Fans of the book often have their own speculations about how the episodes might because been honest they need to be modified at times to adapt to the audience. The trailer too sets the perfect scenario for hot debate among the fans when they didn't just become the spectators but align with either of the factions, the Greens or the Blacks.

The Prophecy and the Iron Throne

The trailer begins by addressing the Iron Throne as the dispute by nature, only Rhaenyra knows the truth behind the Iron Throne and its Prophecy after on Season 1 her father perfectly explains only to her, ruling is duty, it is also about safeguarding the kingdom. Moreover, it is connected to the Prophecy of Ice and Fire which broke surface in Season 1 and is spoken about by just Rhaenyra. She uses images to her advantage, creatively describing the Wall in the North and dragon eggs floating among the flames, to represent the elements of ice and fire. For anyone who know more about the story this generates some deep emotions about Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow whose involvement in the prophecy is extremely significant.

Season two goes around the two characters to claim the throne, Rhaenyra and Aegon, who are both in a quest for legitimacy as the rightful masters, tons of tension between the two of them is in the air and the ground, this is probably the war that let dragons to go very low in numbers, as the trailer bring up the fact that there is the an inevitable bloody conflict.

Dragons and War

In Season 2, battle with dragons to certain extent is going to be the most exciting factor, although the drama of treason and element of surprise will go hand by hand. In the trailer they show several dragons, there is a golden dragon that must possibly be Aegon's Sunfire with him riding with armor, on his helmet Aegon The Conqueror Crown. The air of five new dragons shows the presence of some more dragons in season two, as for the short display, it only shows in season one. Otto Hightower, acting as Hand of The King at first, tells his grand son now king that the great houses will join them, and then we see armies which are in formation ready for war. The Lannisters have sided with Aegon but Corlys Velaryon and his wife, Rhaenys have join Rhaenyra. The trailer brings forth Corlys's loyalty as he promises Rhaenyra to follow her orders putting his fleet to her command.

The battlefront and the dragons were clear warning signs of the inevitable bloodbath in the next season, some of this dragons we have seen before in battle while some others just flying around like Rhaeneyra Cyrax but towards the end of the trailer it does show Vermithor behind Rhaeneyra making me think that she claim him bringing the fight to Vegar and Prince Aemond.

Aegon's Quest for Revenge

Season 1 finished with Rhaenyra's sadness after the loss of Lucerys, its no secret that her war against the Hightowers is no on full force, something happens in between that Aegon is trusty for revenge, he is also seen calmly leaning himself on a small table and pointing a dagger at his own council members only to announce to everyone that he will take revenge on his enemy shortly, this becomes a big question to what happen, only if you have not read the books. Team black, Rhaenyra's must have done something or took something from Aegon for him to suddenly feel need to go to war and ride his dragon without thinking the consequences, this is not the Aegon we saw on season 1.

Targaryen & Hightower Families Divisions

The Targaryen family is already split into two factions: the apparent ruling being the Greens, guided by Alicent Hightower and her son Aegon II now the king although are they really the ones pulling the strings within the greens?, and the other side being the Blacks under Rhaenyra and her uncle Daemon under similar situation, Daemon talking about the only hope is to have a ruler strong enough to unite the realm, is he pretending to take the throne?. Alicent gives her judgement of patience in the war time merely to be confronted soon afterwards by Aemond, her son who says she is so indulgent towards their enemies, we start to see even how the two sides already form start to splinter and divide, Otto Hightower started as Hand of The King but is also replace latter on during the war by Sir. Criston Cole question is in what terms did this happens?

On team black Daemon Targaryen who is Rhaenyra's uncle and husband plays an equally important role in this war, while he didn't actually rule, Daemon was the one advocating for war, instigating a similar type of drama in Season 2, there is also a scene where Rhaenyra had to ask Daemon if he recognize her as her Queen and Ruler, what has he done that now she distrust him? having to ask him to confirm his loyalty to her not as her husband but recognize her again as his Queen.

Season 2 of "House of the Dragon" will reveal increasing amount of dragons and riders, there are more dragons than riders at the time, war battles and the family disagreements of much larger scale. The game is now of much higher level been dragon fights usually lethal turning everything into ashes, as in Game of Thrones it was never a good idea to bring dragons to Kings Landing during times of war although that seems Daemon's plan.

Prophecy of Ice and Fire creates another aspect of interest by which Rhaenyra's knowledge of the prophecy becomes highly valuable, as opposed to others who don't know, makes the story more profound.

I'm sure there are still a lot of details that has not been shared on the trailer, yes we know most of the riders and dragons already, but as mention its going to be the drama and treason mainly that will do its part, House of The Dragon is not a series about dragons only its so much more than that.
