Hello friends, taking advantage of the Sunday of horror movie marathons, I saw the remake of "Hellraiser", one of the most emblematic movies of the eighties that created the universe of the cenobites, which, in 1987, Clive Barker, so masterfully presented us and that faithfully represented the original story of the books. This adaptation (1987), written, adapted and directed by Barker, showed us a chilling universe of terror, which had never been seen before in other horror films, doing something that in my personal opinion has been difficult to do again since then.

Hola amigos, aprovechando el domingo de maratones de películas de terror, vi el remake de “Hellraiser”, una de las películas más emblemáticas de los ochenta que creó el universo de los cenobitas, que, en 1987, Clive Barker, tan magistralmente nos presentó y que fielmente representaban la historia original de los libros. Esta adaptación (1987), escrita, adaptada y dirigida por Barker, nos mostró un universo escalofriante de terror, a lo que nunca antes se había visto en otras cintas de terror, realizando algo que en mi opinión personal ha sido difícil de volver a hacer desde entonces.

Despite this, thanks to the enormous success of this film, almost immediately after the first sequel was created, which was written by Barker, but directed by Tony Randel, which showed us the history of the cenobites and who was Pinhead, although it did not have the same success of its predecessor, it allowed us to know and deepen the stories of the characters. Unfortunately, Barker abandoned the project and the following sequels were in decline in quality and in telling the original story of the books that gave birth to the saga. However, 9 sequels were made for a total of 10 films, counting the one that started it all.

A pesar de esto, gracias al el enorme éxito de esta cinta, casi inmediatamente después se creó la primera secuela que fue escrita por Barker, pero dirigida por Tony Randel, en la que nos mostraba la historia de los cenobitas y quien era Pinhead, aunque no tuvo el mismo éxito de su predecesora, nos permitió conocer y profundizar más las historias de los personajes. Lamentablemente, Barker, abandona el proyecto y las secuelas siguientes fueron en bajada en calidad y en contar la historia original de los libros que dieron el nacimiento de la saga. Sin embargo, se realizaron 9 secuelas para un total de 10 películas, contando la que dio inicio a todo.

Now, four years later, "Hellraiser" is back, a remake trying to emulate the one that gave birth to the saga, this time directed by David Bruckner, this film in its long awaited premiere, tries to rescue the essence and originality that the original had. I must say that many years ago I saw the first one and some of its sequels, but only the first one got me hooked and left me wanting to repeat. So when I saw the trailer for this remake I was looking forward to it. I recently saw it and my impression is lukewarm, I don't know if it's because my expectations were too high or because over the years I no longer have the same passion for the horror genre that I used to have, but, although it's not bad, it's not amazing to the point that you'd want to see it again.

Ahora, cuatro años después, vuelve “Hellraiser”, remake tratando de emular a la que dio origen a la saga, esta vez dirigida por David Bruckner, esta película en su tan esperado estreno, trata de rescatar la esencia y originalidad que tuvo la original. Debo decir que haces muchos años atrás vi la primera y alguna de sus secuelas, pero solo la primera logró engancharme y dejarme con ganas de repetir. Así que cuando vi el tráiler de este remake lo esperé con ansias. Hace poco la vi y mi impresión es tibia, no sé, sí es porque mis expectativas eran muy altas o porque con los años ya no tengo la misma pasión por el género de horror que solía tener, pero, aunque no es mala, tampoco es alucinante al punto que repetirías ver.

I liked the care of the visual effects of the film, I found them magnificent, the performances of the new protagonists are solid and credible, some scenes are very good and the pace of the film is adequate, they keep you alert with their pauses. What I didn't like is that it lacked that suspense and terror that makes you jump out of your chair and want to turn on the lights while watching it. It lacked depth to the characters and in some scenes to be more coherent with the plot. Still, the movie is worth watching, even if it's not scary enough, it's entertaining. On the other hand, it gives new generations the opportunity to see and investigate the world of the cenobites and get to know their creepy universe. For me the film is a 6/10.

Me gusto lo cuidado de los efectos visuales de la cinta, me parecieron magníficos, las actuaciones de los nuevos protagonistas son sólidas y creíbles, algunas escenas son muy buenas y el ritmo de la cinta es adecuando, te mantienen alerta con sus pausas. Lo que no me gusto, es que le falto ese suspenso y terror que te hace brincar de la silla y querer encender las luces mientras la ves. Le falto profundidad a los personajes y en algunas escenas ser más coherentes con la trama. A pesar de ello, la película vale la pena de ver, aunque no asuste lo suficiente, es entretenida. Por otro lado, les da la oportunidad a nuevas generaciones de ver e investigar el mundo de los cenobitas y conocer su escalofriante universo. Para mí la cinta es un 6/10.
