En el decimoquinto concurso de la.comunidad de CineTV, debemos escribir sobre cual es nuestro Favorito Sci-Fi TV Show; desde niño je tenido muchas series de ciencia-ficción favoritas como Battlestar Galactica, V, Lost in the Space, Knight Rider, The Greatest American Hero, Automan, The Twilight Zone, X-Files, 3rd Rock From the Sun y muchas otras que pude ver entre los 80' y 90'; en los años siguientes he visto otras más, estrenadas no hace muy poco como son las que están basadas en el universo de Star Wars, pero justamente entre esas historias en dónde vemos cosas imposibles como son avances tecnológicos, otros mundos, visitantes de otros planetas, historias maravillosas, me quedo con una serie que es basada en un film estrenado en 1973 y que sirvió como influencia a otras películas que son clásicos dentro del género de la ciencia-ficción.
In the fifteenth contest of the. CineTV community, we must write about which is our favorite Sci-Fi TV Show; since I was a child I had many favorite sci-fi series like Battlestar Galactica, V, Lost in the Space, Knight Rider, The Greatest American Hero, Automan, The Twilight Zone, X-Files, 3rd Rock From the Sun and many others that I could see between the 80' and 90'; in the following years I have seen others, released not too long ago such as those based on the Star Wars universe, but just among those stories where we see impossible things such as technological advances, other worlds, visitors from other planets, wonderful stories, I'm left with a series that is based on a film released in 1973 and that served as an influence to other films that are classics in the science fiction genre.
"Freeze All Motor Functions"
Desde el momento de su estreno en el 2016, Westworld se convirtió en una de las series que más me ha gustado ver; recuerdo que en el momento de ver el primer episodio tenía una sensación extraña con respecto a las expectativas que tenía la cual eran altas antes de su estreno, pero al momento de ver el episodio piloto iba calmando esa sensación como si estuviera esperando algo que me haría enganchar por completo en esta historia y justamente la escena final de ese episodio fué suficiente para querer ver más sobre esta historia sobre despertar y auto descubrimiento. Siendo esta una serie basada en un film que dió base a otras historias como son Terminator de James Cameron y Blade Runner de Ridley Scott, era justo que no se copiara todo lo ya hecho y por eso se debería evolucionar para que está historia tuviera más riqueza y no quedarse en una simple mal funcionamiento de máquinas y subsiguiente ataque hacia los humanos y es en este aspecto dónde la historia de esta serie funciona porque se basa en explicar el por qué los llamados "Huéspedes' despiertan de un loop infernal que deben vivir en una prisión o infierno que tienen diferentes épocas de la historia o fantasías.
From the moment of its premiere in 2016, Westworld became one of the series that I most enjoyed watching; I remember that at the time of watching the first episode I had a strange feeling regarding the expectations I had which were high before its premiere, but at the time of watching the pilot episode I was calming that feeling as if I was waiting for something that would make me hook me completely in this story and just the final scene of that episode was enough to want to see more about this story about awakening and self-discovery. Being this a series based on a film that gave base to other stories like Terminator by James Cameron and Blade Runner by Ridley Scott, it was fair not to copy everything already done and therefore should evolve so that this story has more richness and not stay in a simple malfunction of machines and subsequent attack on humans and it is in this aspect where the story of this series works because it is based on explaining why the so-called "Guests' awaken from a hellish loop that must live in a prison or hell that have different times of history or fantasies.
El hecho de ser testigos de como lo que antes eran considerados máquinas, ahora comienzan a despertar y así pensar en como liberarse de sus opresores que solo buscan controlar la perfección, es lo que más me gusta de esta historia; el relato de primero ver cómo androides despiertan una conciencia y tienen la noción de saber que su forma de vivir esta mal porque son esclavos de los deseos de humanos reprimidos quienes viven en un mundo lleno de camaras, de muchas miradas de la sociedad y es por eso que van a un parque donde usan a seres perfectos para saciar sus deseos nada sanos. Las víctimas de estos deseos son los huéspedes que para mí personifica a la perfección porque en realidad son eso, cuando la protagonista de esta historia, "Dolores", dice que ella decide ver la belleza de este mundo, creo que en primer momento habla del deseo de sus creadores o mejor dicho, de las personas quienes los controlan porque eso venden ese lugar, belleza, perfección, sumisión y eso es lo que buscan muchas personas que pagan para jugar sin ninguna vigilancia y por eso se creen libres de hacer cualquier cosa con huéspedes esclavos de deseos de oprimidos.
The fact of witnessing how what were once considered machines, now begin to wake up and think about how to free themselves from their oppressors who only seek to control perfection, is what I like most about this story; the story of first seeing how androids awaken a conscience and have the notion of knowing that their way of living is wrong because they are slaves to the desires of repressed humans who live in a world full of cameras, of many looks of society and that is why they go to a park where they use perfect beings to satiate their unhealthy desires. The victims of these desires are the guests that for me personifies to perfection because in reality they are that, when the protagonist of this story, "Dolores ", says that she decides to see the beauty of this world, I believe that in first moment she speaks of the desire of their creators or better said, of the people who control them because that is what they sell that place, beauty, perfection, submission and that is what many people who pay to play without any surveillance are looking for and that is why they think they are free to do anything with guests who are slaves of the desires of the oppressed.
En las tres temporadas que tiene esta serie, usa referencias como "Laberinto" y "La Puerta" para describir temas enfocados en la liberación de los huéspedes de una infernal y repetitiva presión; el Laberinto es usado como referencia sobre el auto descubrimiento, crear y tener una conciencia que los ayude a tomar decisiones, un importante primer paso para la liberación, segundo la Puerta, que invita a quienes han despertado para dar un paso más y salir al mundo real, en esto se enfoca la segunda temporada, más violenta, llena de resentimiento y venganza, puedo decir que es la que más me ha gustado porque sumando a las características ya descritas, da un paso más en el elemento de la ciencia-ficción, suma nuevos mundos, posibilidades de tener un mundo en dónde los huéspedes son quienes caminan en el mundo como ser completamente evolucionado, adelanta la historia y solo queda al espectador sentarse y disfrutar este viaje de seres queriendo ser libres, vivir y es por eso que apesar de que muchos consideren floja su tercera temporada, pienso que es necesaria porque para que justamente "Dolores" junto a su clase deberán seguir luchando, liberando a quien quiera ser liberado para en realidad tener un mundo sin restricciones, sin opresión; esto es lo que me gusta de esta serie, androides que no buscan suplantar a humanos, buscan explorar sentimientos que deberían definir por completo a humanos, cosas que nunca obtuvieron a plenitud, eso es lo que disfruto de esta serie, de la historia en sí y que en la próxima temporada a estrenarse a finales del próximo mes espero que sigan explorando porque pienso que todavía queda mucho por contar de esta revolución de máquinas que busca sobrevivir para no repetir cosas que ya han hecho la especie humana por años, creo que de esto se tratará la cuarta temporada. Está es mi breve participación y opinión sobre Westworld, anteriormente he escrito dos publicaciones sobre esta serie de HBO y me gustaría ser más extenso sobre esta historia, pero quiero dejar la intensidad para después porque quiero mantener mis expectativas bajas y así disfrutar aún más de esta gran historia de ciencia ficción.
In the three seasons of this series, it uses references such as "Labyrinth" and "The Gate" to describe themes focused on the liberation of the guests from a hellish and repetitive pressure; the Labyrinth is used as a reference about self-discovery, creating and having a conscience that helps them to make decisions, an important first step for liberation, second the Gate, which invites those who have awakened to take a step further and go out into the real world, this is the focus of the second season, more violent, full of resentment and revenge, I can say that I liked it the most because adding to the characteristics already described, it takes a step further in the science-fiction element, it adds new worlds, possibilities of having a world where the guests are those who walk in the world as a fully evolved being, advances the story and only remains for the viewer to sit back and enjoy this journey of beings wanting to be free, to live and that is why despite the fact that many consider its third season weak, I think it is necessary because just because "Dolores" along with her kind should continue to fight, freeing those who want to be freed to actually have a world without restrictions, without oppression; this is what I like about this series, androids that do not seek to supplant humans, they seek to explore feelings that should completely define humans, things that they never fully obtained, that's what I enjoy about this series, the story itself and that in the next season to be released at the end of next month I hope they continue exploring because I think there is still much to tell of this revolution of machines that seeks to survive to not repeat things that have already done the human species for years, I think this is what the fourth season will be about. This is my brief participation and opinion about Westworld, I have previously written two posts about this HBO series and I would like to be more extensive about this story, but I want to leave the intensity for later because I want to keep my expectations low so I can enjoy even more this great science fiction story.
