The inception of Netflix has really provided us with great content and films being developed and I'm really enjoying the growth in Sci-fi movies gracing the small screen. Although it's 2021 and I don't think many of us actually have small screens at home anymore.

In 2019 I tucked in for another magnificent interstellar journey across the universe as Another Life was released. I was sceptical at the start as there have been a few flops on Netflix but this one was not one of them, it had a great story line and a decent special effects budget.

The season opens up with the usual Sci fi stuff a not too distant future of the world which makes it quite relatible to our current lives. It isn't too long until a space ship lands on a field somewhere in the US? Man why does the US always get the invaders? Ah well better them then me 🤣 although aliens would have a far greater chance of success landing in Australia. Our continent is huge and relatively empty. Population and army smaller than the US and by the time we ended up where they land invasion is probably already under way.

So the ship grows a crystal over it some form of shield the interstellar command quickly identifies where the ship came from and dispatches a team to go and investigate. While ground forces surround the ship and attempt to communicate to no avail.

The series is a blend between what is occurring on Earth and what is occurring in outter space. The ship dispatched is called Salvare and hosts an AI with a human form. An interesting twist in the story is that the AI falls in love with the captain of the ship Astronaut Niko Breckinridge and the entailing love battle is an interesting one. I won't give away too many spoilers.

It's hard to describe the large aspects of what's occurring in the film as it splits between the incidents on Earth and that on the ship but the series does this well without interjecting the story line too much. We also encounter biological virus's that cause people's spines/nervous systems to explode out of their bodies and become a life form.

We're even faced with an invasion on the ship only later to find out it was something else.

As the season draws closer to the end we begin to learn more about what the object is and where it has come from yet its intentions are still quite uncertain. We learn a musical code is being ejected and social media plays a role in solving the complex algorithm.

Someone enters the object and we get our first glimpse of its insides.

While on earth the object is showing signs and informing humans it is safe we find out from another species whom have encountered it previously that it is not friendly and wiped out the planet. It too hosts a crystal on its planet.

The team decide to fire up the big guns and blow up the crystal as they believe it will help, only to anger the space race who show up and destroy the planet.

The team do a quick spin and head to Earth.

Season 2 was delayed due to COVID but I am super pumped for it's release and can't wait to see what's installed for our interstellar crew.

If you haven't tuned in, I'd highly recommend spending some time and watching Season 1 which comprises of 10 episodes. It will leave you wanting more!
