Knives Out 2019 by Rian Johnson is one riveting murder mystery I love that keeps one in suspense and has you on the edge of your seat. The plot is very creative and full of surprises, with interesting characters that makes you wonder what each one is up to. The movie gradually builds tension by providing you hints or clues that make your thoughts fly in numerous ways, thinking you've got a hold of the suspect while you've not, thereby making it difficult to figure out what really happened.
Set in a beautiful mansion, crafting an elaborate web of deception, enticing spectators on an exciting trip through secrets, lies, suspense and unimaginable twists. I think the spooky atmosphere added to the suspense too.
Plot
Knives out 2019 had a superb ensemble cast and masterful writing,
Set in a wealthy and eccentric clan. The Thrombey family, led by the intriguing crime author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), is the focus in Knives Out. Following his untimely and not so normal death, a renowned detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) was invited to investigate what appears to be a suicide. However, as the plot gradually progresses, it becomes clear that there's foul play. With a slew of colorful characters, each with their own motives, motivations and secrets, the film turns into a quick game of cat and mouse, keeping the viewers guessing until the very end.
Cast:
The actors in Knives Out were excellent and brought their characters to life. Daniel Craig, who's best known for his role as James Bond, played the character Benoit Blanc the investigator. His charming, witty, and odd nature in the movie makes him fascinating to watch. Ana de Armas also shines bright with her character as Marta Cabrera, the nurse who becomes entangled in the mystery.
The other actors like Harlan's sly grandson, Ransom Drysdale, which was played by Chris Evans, while Harlan's strong daughter, Linda Drysdale, played by Jamie Lee Curtis did great too. One thing about each character is that each has their own quirks that adds to the complexity of the plot.
Truly Knives Out cast was an ensemble of quite talented acts and they really delivered in their respective roles.
My thoughts on the movie:
Knives Out is a fantastic suspense filled movie that keeps your interest and edged all through. The filmmaker, Rian Johnson, did quite a wonderful job of relaying the story and making it interesting as well. I think the movie was a little mix of the old school mystery and a modern twist, giving it this new and original vibe. At one point you're teased with hints and another point they bait you with false leads, leaving you suspended and in-between on what happened.
The dialogue in the film is quite clear and amusing. It was clever too. The characters spoke in smart ways that gave humor to the severe situations. Skillfully edited, is like the suspense rises gently to you that you just don't want to stop.
Apart from all that, I think Knives Out 2019 is more than just a mystery. It is a movie that also tried to address some societal issues such as privilege and inequality. It makes you reason on how the wealthy society can be entitled, and how it can impact others. Seriously for someone like me, it goes beyond simply solving a crime, it gives you something to think about.
To be honest, Knives Out is an excellent film in general. Whether you love suspense, thrillers, actions, whatever genre you like. I am sure you'll love Knives Out. Truly a must-see for any fan of filmmaking.
