Many of you may wonder why a movie like this put me to sleep since so many people were captivated by it, however I remember back in 2004 when this movie was released, Winston, my best friend at the time invited me to the movies to see it, I remember he was very excited because he had been waiting for it for a long time, he had no one to go to see it with because no one wanted to and I much less wanted to see it because the trailer hadn't even caught my attention, haha 🤣 I even remember my friend tried to capture my attention by showing me the best fan service scenes of Brad Pitt (since he knew I liked that actor) but although I agreed to go see the movie, I knew beforehand that I wouldn't like it.
Muchos de ustedes se preguntarán porqué una película como esta me hizo dormir ya que a muchas personas les cautivó, sin embargo recuerdo que en el 2004, cuando esta película se estrenó, Winston, mi mejor amigo de ese entonces me invitó al cine a verla, recuerdo que él estaba muy emocionado porque había estado esperándola desde hacia mucho tiempo, él no tenía con quién ir a verla porque nadie quería y yo mucho menos porque el trailer ni siquiera había llamado mi atención, jaja 🤣 incluso recuerdo que mi amigo intentó capturar mi atención mostrándome las mejores escenas de fan service de Brad Pitt (ya que él sabía que me gustaba ese actor) pero aunque acepté ir a ver la película, yo sabía de antemano que no me gustaría.
I remember that at the beginning of the movie everything was fine, I mean, I wasn't that bored, but then the tedium I felt was leaving me numb, and I kept yawning over and over again until little by little I was falling asleep 😴, I remember that on several occasions my friend tried to comment on some particularly "exciting" scene with me and he got angry every time he saw me asleep, in the end I got angry with him and told him that I was really bored and to just wake me up at the trojan horse scene, which was the only one I was curious to see.
Recuerdo que al inicio de la película todo estuvo bien, es decir, no me aburrí tanto, pero luego el tedio que yo sentía me fue dejando adormecida, y yo no paraba de bostezar una y otra vez hasta que poco a poco me fui quedando dormida 😴, recuerdo que en varias ocasiones mi amigo intentó comentar alguna escena particularmente "emocionante" conmigo y se enfadaba cada vez que me veía dormida, al final yo me enfadé con él y le dije que de verdad estaba muy aburrida y que solo me despertara en la escena del caballo de troya, que era la única que me daba curiosidad de ver.
Although I think the story of this movie was very slow and told in a boring way, besides they concentrated a lot on fan service to try to get the attention of viewers, I really do not want to demonize the film as there were many elements that were very well done, as the previous scene of the invasion of Troy, there we can appreciate in detail the horrors of war and how the innocent are the ones who pay the consequences, that scene is quite realistic and that is appreciated because it matches reality, but overall I did not like it at all, even Brad Pitt confessed that he only starred in this movie because he owed something to the studio.
Aunque creo que la historia de esta película estuvo muy lenta y contada de forma aburrida, además de que se concentraron muchísimo en el fan service para tratar de llamar la atención de los espectadores, realmente no quiero satanizar la película ya que hubo muchos elementos que estuvieron muy bien hechos, como la escena anterior de la invasión a Troya, allí podemos apreciar a detalle los horrores de la guerra y como son los inocentes los que pagan las consecuencias, esa escena es bastante realista y eso se agradece porque concuerda con la realidad, pero en términos generales no me gustó para nada, incluso Brad Pitt confesó que solo protagonizó esta película porque le debía algo al estudio.
Still I think it is fair to recognize that much of my aversion to this movie lies in my lack of interest in this Greek history and epic battle movies, seriously I love literature and cinema in general, I am even an amateur writer but I hate "The Iliad" I never found it interesting and I remember as a torture when I was forced to read it in high school, it seems to me an excessively tedious and boring story, unlike "The Odyssey" which is much more dynamic and interesting, at least in my humble opinion.
Aun así me parece justo reconocer que gran parte de mi aversión con esta película radica en mi falta de interés en esta historia griega y las películas épicas de batallas, en serio amo la literatura y el cine en general, incluso soy escritora amateur pero detesto "La Iliada" nunca me pareció interesante y recuerdo como una tortura cuando me obligaron a leerla en la secundaria, me parece una historia excesivamente tediosa y aburrida, a diferencia de "La Odisea" que es mucho más dinámica e interesante, al menos en mi humilde opinión.
Well friends, those are the reasons why I decided to choose Troy for this contest, you probably think it was a great movie and I think your opinion is quite valid, but unfortunately it didn't catch my attention beyond the special effects and the odd scene, which is why I was asleep most of the time.
Y bien amigos, esas son las razones por las cuales decidí escoger Troya para este concurso, probablemente ustedes piensen que fue una película genial y creo que su opinión es bastante válida, pero lamentablemente no llamó mi atención más allá de los efectos especiales y alguna que otra escena, razón por la cuál estuve dormida la mayor parte del tiempo.
