CineTV Contest: Clear and Present Danger // "Peligro Inminente" (1994). [Eng - Esp]

I have always believed that politics at the film level tries to clean up its battered image of being one of the worst and most vile practices of mass domination. However, I believe that there are works that break the mold a little and dare to speak more clearly about the methods and activities that are orchestrated "behind closed doors" to carry out personal projects, state corruption and death. So, when I read this submission from our friends at @cinetv Link Contest #38 Here; I didn't hesitate to tell you about my choice.

Siempre he creído que la política a nivel peliculesco, trata de limpiar su maltrecha imagen de ser una de las peores y más viles prácticas de dominación de masas. No obstante, creo que hay obras que rompen un poco ese molde y se atreven a hablar con mayor claridad, sobre los métodos y actividades que "a puertas cerradas" se orquestan para llevar a cabo, proyectos personales, corrupción de Estado y muerte. Entonces, cuando leí esta propuesta de nuestros amigos de @cinetv Link Contest #38 Here; no dude en hablarles de mi elección.

I laughed a little with the statement, since not talking about politics is a general rule on the platform, but really this film leaves everything (or almost everything) to our discretion, it is as if talking about politics without doing so. For many it may be a boldness of the renowned Australian director Phillip Noyce, because to achieve a successful film, which speaks very badly of the political decisions of the United States of America, a nation that over time has fallen a little, that mask of world heroes.

Me reí un poco con el enunciado, dado que no hablar de política es una norma general en la plataforma, pero de verdad esta cinta nos deja todo (o casi todo) a nuestro criterio, es como si hablara de política sin hacerlo. Para muchos quizás sea una osadía del reconocido director australiano Phillip Noyce, porque lograr una película exitosa, en la que se habla muy mal de las decisiones políticas de los Estados Unidos de América, una nación que con el tiempo se le ha caído un poco, esa máscara de héroes mundiales.

I refer of course to the movie "Clear and present danger", which here in Venezuela was known as "Imminent danger", besides the fascinating theme for the year 1994, the cast did a memorable job, with Harrison Ford at the head; but seeing a sequence of administrative acts that generates drastic consequences in another country, has much of the reality that has happened in several nations that have suffered invasions and armed attacks. Therefore, the sense of realism in this work, catches me and is one of my favorites of the genre.

Me refiero por supuesto a la película "Clear and present danger", la que acá en Venezuela se conoció con el nombre de "Peligro inminente", además del fascinante tema para el año 1994, el elenco hizo un trabajo memorable, con Harrison Ford a la cabeza; pero ver una secuencia de actos administrativos que genera drásticas consecuencias en otro país, tiene mucho de la realidad que ha sucedido en varias naciones que han sufrido invasiones y ataques armados. Por ello, el sentido de realismo en esta obra, me atrapa y es una de mis preferidas del género.

What happens with the U.S. president and his military attacks to other countries, is something that has become common; regardless of the suffering of innocent people; in this it is very similar to the reality we know of Latin American history and the issue with our brothers in Colombia, since the issue of drugs is well known, but poorly managed; because the main consumers of their white product, are in the power countries How ironic! However, I find it interesting to know a little about the way politicians act, and that's why I like this kind of films.

Lo que sucede con el presidente de EE.UU y sus ataques militares a otros países, es algo que se ha vuelto común; sin importar el sufrimiento de las personas inocentes; en esto se parece mucho a la realidad que conocemos de la historia latinoamericana y el tema con nuestros hermanos de Colombia, dado que el tema de las drogas es bien sabido, pero mal manejado; porque los principales consumidores de su producto blanco, están en los países potencia ¡Qué irónico! Sin embargo, conocer un poco sobre la manera de actuar de los políticos, me parece interesante y por eso me gusta este tipo de filmes.

Here, without a doubt, I see the actor Donald Moffat and I can imagine the face of George W. Bush, ordering the bombing of Iraq; although we are also presented with a hero who works for the CIA, personified by the famous fictional character of Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford). A man who acts under his principles and ideals of justice; and who does something that very few do, take responsibility. This fact of Ryan, makes all the difference and he becomes the good man we all dream of being, that's why we accompany him in his adventure of danger, that puts his own life at risk; that's something I like ha,ha,ha.

Acá sin duda, veo al actor Donald Moffat y me llega a la imaginación la cara de George W. Bush, mandando a bombardear Irak; aunque también nos colocan un héroe que trabaja para la CIA, personificado por el famoso personaje ficticio de Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford). Un hombre que actúa bajo sus principios e ideales de justicia; y que hace algo que muy pocos, asumir la responsabilidad. Este hecho de Ryan, marca la diferencia y se convierte en el buen hombre que todos soñamos ser, por eso lo acompañamos en su aventura de peligro, que pone su propia vida en riesgo; eso es algo que me gusta ja,ja,ja.

Imminent Danger is a very entertaining film and I like it as a whole; of course there are unlikely situations that occur for the objective to be fulfilled, but certainly one of the favorite scenes is when Jack hacks into Robert Ritter's computer (played by Henry Czerny), from which he obtains compromising information and although Ritter discovers him, they argue about the truth that Jack has discovered; It is intriguing that he is the weakest link in the chain of illegal acts, but even though he is involved, he is brave and decides to tell the truth, even if it is to his own detriment.

Peligro inminente es una cinta muy entretenida y me gusta en su totalidad; claro que hay situaciones inverosímiles que se dan para que el objetivo se cumpla, pero sin duda una de las escenas favoritas es cuando Jack hackea la computadora de Robert Ritter (interpretado por Henry Czerny), de ésta obtiene información comprometedora y aunque Ritter le descubre, discuten sobre la verdad que Jack ha descubierto; es intrigante que sea él, el eslabón más débil de la cadena de actos ilegales, pero aunque se ve inmiscuido, es valiente y decide decir la verdad, aunque fuese en detrimento propio.

I am captivated by the fact that these people do not stay in their offices, but go out into action in various scenarios; although in the end, it is a classic American hero style, that is what I do not like so much, that although they are bad guys, they still come out as the good guys and I am clear that if there were a Jack Ryan with all the information he handles and the way he faced the president, he simply would not be alive. The interests of men of power come before the lives of others; this has been the case throughout history and it seems that this will continue to be the case.

Me cautiva el hecho que, esta gente no se quedan en sus oficinas, sino que salen a la acción en diversos escenarios; aunque al final, se trata de un clásico al estilo del héroe americano, eso es lo que no me gusta tanto, que aunque sean malos, siguen saliendo como los buenos y estoy claro que, si existiese un Jack Ryan con toda la información que maneja y la manera como enfrentó al presidente, sencillamente no estaría con vida. Los intereses de los hombres de poder, van por encima de la vida de los demás; así ha sido a lo largo de la historia y al parecer, así seguirá siendo.
