Intriguing And Action-packed —Review Of The Terminal List (2022)

I guess the title of this TV series makes it obvious what the storyline is about. I mean, 'terminal' list? When I watched the trailer, my brain did not reach this conclusion at first. All I saw was Chris Pratt in an army uniform with a gun and on a mission! My interest was aroused. As I write this review, I wondered why I did not make this deduction at the time I was to watch.

The Terminal List (2022) is an action/crime/thriller that focuses on James Reece (well played by Christ Pratt), a Navy Seal commander who goes to Syria on a covert mission with his platoon. The mission turns fatal as explosives went off unexpectedly and Reece's teammates died except for his close friend, Boozer.

On their return back to the US, Reece's world is turned upside down as he suffers memory losses while attending a debrief session to recount the events that took place in Syria. The events he was confronted with were different from what took place. Upon further investigation and with the death of Boozer, Reece discovers that an experimental drug test was used on his platoon and those behind it could have been responsible for the fatal mission.

Things take a worse turn when his wife and daughter are brutally murdered and he is framed for it. This brings out the bad side of the Seal commander. Will he succeed in his search for the true perpetrators behind these atrocious crimes?

Review

Chris Pratt's performance in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers displayed his charming and witty sides. But in this series, he acts the part of a stern, heartbroken and vengeful man on a mission and he performed excellently.

A scary part of The Terminal List is where Chris Pratt writes the names of those responsible for his family and platoon's deaths on the back of his daughter's drawing. He becomes an angry man on a killing spree as he crosses off each name after he kills them. This image or performance conflicts with the charming and witty character that viewers know in some of Pratt's movies. This goes to show that he delivered on this role contrary to some critics' reviews.

I enjoyed this detailed action thriller that gets more intriguing with every episode. James Reece is an engrossing action character and Chris Pratt superbly brought him to life with his impressive performance. Taylor Kitsch, Constance Wu and Jai Courtney also put in solid supporting performances that make the series an outstanding one.

Viewers are stunned by acts of heroism, brilliant deductive moves, fight for love and thrilling actions. Some of the action sequences and visual effects are so well executed you will want to watch again and again.

Overall, this series is not bad if you are a Chris Pratt fan. I understand this series is based on a bestselling book of the same name by Jack Carr. I can't say whether there will be a season two but it's watchworthy. I would strongly recommend it to those who like action, drama and thriller genres.
