Love greetings to all my Hive friends, I am very pleased to participate in the Cine TV Contest #37 - Favorite Movie About Work. I know the deadline was yesterday, but I had a lot of problems with my connection and it was impossible for me to post. However, I don't miss the opportunity to share with you my entry, because since I read the contest I was very excited to be part of the sharing.
One of the movies that I love and that I relate perfectly with my work is Resistance. It was released in 2020 in the US and directed by Jonathan Jakubowiczfue. It is a biographical drama inspired by the life of Marcel Marceau, the renowned French mime, a reference in the artistic world. With a wonderful cast, the story tells us how Marcel Marceau's art was a source of life and joy in the midst of one of the cruelest genocides in human history, despite being undervalued by his family and acquaintances. And it was through his artistic practices that Marceau connected with orphaned and war-torn children and with his brother joined the French Resistance, where they dedicated themselves to saving the lives of Jewish children persecuted by the Nazis.
The reason I link this story to my work is because I have been involved in cultural work for about 15 years. I have a degree in business administration, but after a few years in my profession I discovered that my true vocation is to work within communities. During all this time I have had the joy of working with children of all ages, many of them from very poor families.
I have had to see very hard realities, in 2011 I worked with 40 families who were affected after a landslide destroyed their homes. We sang, drew, watched movies and shared every week. Very humble and loving people, with wonderful children who gave me a place among them. With them I understood that joy can flourish in the most adverse circumstances.
In 2015 the work took me to some modules designed by the state to provide social care in territories with vulnerable populations. These lands were occupied by Colombian families, displaced by paramilitary violence in their country. Likewise, the different artistic disciplines connected us and we achieved great things at an organizational level. Many of these communities were validated and ceased to be squatters, as we performed plays, modeled clay, sang, danced and wrote poetry.
In 2020 the pandemic reached the south of our continent, and many of the Venezuelan families who had migrated to Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, walked back to the national territory, due to lack of medical attention in the places where they were. When they arrived, they were isolated to rule out the possibility of them being sick and spreading the virus in the country. The centers where they were isolated were called PASI (Integral Social Attention Posts). There everything was chaos, people were desperate, not knowing what would happen and with the terrible fear of being infected by the deadly virus. At that time I was also there, accompanying with my team those families terrified by the uncertainty. With all the biosecurity measures we managed to continue generating spaces of joy and resilience with the families. Together with my team we were also afraid, because we were exposed to the unknown virus every time we entered a PASI, we had to change all our strategies and methodologies to adapt them to the new circumstances.
For that reason this film touches me so much, sometimes I feel that cultural work is undervalued by many people, especially children's animations, I have met people who see us as entertainment, as something very easy to do. But what they don't know is that this is the best way to connect with ourselves and with others. And when we connect with other people anything is possible.
That powerful scene where the protagonist volunteers at the place where they hide the Jewish children and when he sees their sad faces and the pain consuming them, he decides to play with them with an act of mime, immediately the joy of the children floods the place and they all end up standing up laughing out loud, as if for a moment they had changed the world inside that little hiding place.
I love my work because thanks to it I have met people who have taught me how to live. And this film is a sample of how powerful art can be, because it connects us with the most beautiful part of our being, empathy and humanity.

Un saludo amoroso para todos mis amigo de Hive, estoy muy complacida de participar en el Cine TV Contest #37 - Favorite Movie About Work. Sé que la fecha límite fue hasta el día de ayer, pero tuve mucho problemas con mi conexión y se me hizo imposible publicar. Sin embargo no pierdo la oportunidad de compartir con ustedes mi entrada, ya que desde que leí el concurso me hizo gran ilusión formar parte del compartir.
Una de las películas que adoro y que relaciono perfectamente con mi trabajo es Resistance. Fue estrenada en el año 2020 en los estados unidos y dirigida por Jonathan Jakubowiczfue. Es un drama biográfico inspirado en la vida de Marcel Marceau, el reconocido mimo francés, un referente en el mundo artístico. Con un elenco maravilloso, la historia nos cuenta como el arte de Marcel Marceau fue una fuente de vida y alegría en medio de uno de los genocidios más crueles que recuerda la historia de la humanidad, a pesar de ser infravalorado por su familia y conocidos. Y fue a través de sus prácticas artísticas que Marceau se conectó con las infancias huérfanas y devastadas por la guerra y junto a su hermano se unió a la Resistencia Francesa, donde se dedicaron a salvar la vida de los niños judíos perseguidos por los nazis.
La razón por la que vinculo esta historia con mi trabajo, es porque desde hace unos 15 años me dedico al trabajo cultural. Soy graduada en administración de empresas, pero después de ejercer durante algunos años mi profesión descubrí que mi verdadera vocación es trabajar en el seno de las comunidades. Durante todo este tiempo he tenido la dicha de trabajar con niños de todas las edades, muchos de ellos pertenecientes a familias de muy bajos recursos.
He tenido que ver realidades muy duras, en el 2011 trabaje con 40 familias que quedaron damnificadas después de que un deslave arrasara con sus viviendas. Cantábamos, dibujábamos, veíamos películas y compartíamos todas las semanas. Personas muy humildes y amorosas, con niños maravillosos que me dieron un lugar entre ellos. Con ellos entendí que la alegría puede florecer en las circunstancias más adversas.
En el 2015 el trabajo me llevo a unos módulos diseñados por el estado para ofrecer atención social en territorios con poblaciones vulnerables. Estos terrenos estaban ocupados por familias colombianas, desplazadas por la violencia paramilitar en su país. Igualmente las diferentes disciplinas artísticas nos conectaron y logramos grandes cosas a nivel organizativo. Muchas de esas comunidades se validaron y dejaron de ser ocupaciones ilegales, mientras hacíamos obras de teatro, modelábamos arcillas, cantábamos, bailábamos y escribíamos poesía.
En el 2020 la pandemia llegó al sur de nuestro continente, y muchas de las familias venezolanas que habían migrado a Colombia, Perú y Ecuador, se regresaron caminando al territorio nacional, por falta de atención médica en los lugares donde estaban. Cuando llegaban eran aislados para descartar que estuvieran enfermos y propagaran el virus en el país. Los centros donde eran aislados tenían por nombre PASI (Puestos de Atención Social Integral). Allí todo era caos, la gente estaba desesperada sin saber que pasaría y con el miedo terrible de estar contagiados por el virus mortal. En ese momento también estuve allí, acompañando junto con mi equipo a esas familias aterradas por la incertidumbre. Con todas las medidas de bioseguridad nos las ingeniábamos para seguir generando espacios de alegría y resilencia con las familias. Juntos con mi equipo también tuvimos miedo, porque nos exponíamos al desconocido virus cada vez que entrabamos a un PASI, tuvimos que cambiar todas nuestras estrategias y metodologías para adaptarlas a las nuevas circunstancias.
Por esa razón esta película me conmueve tanto, a veces siento que el trabajo cultural es infravalorado por muchas personas, sobre todo las animaciones infantiles, he conocido gente que nos ve como un entretenimiento, como algo muy fácil de hacer. Pero lo que no saben es que esta es la mejor forma de conectarnos con nosotros mismo y con los demás. Y cuando nos conectamos con otras personas todo es posible.
Esa poderosa escena donde el protagonista trabaja de voluntario en el lugar donde esconden a los niños judíos y cuando ve sus caras tristes y el dolor consumiéndolos, decide jugar con ellos con un acto de mimo, de inmediato la alegría de los niños inunda el lugar y terminan todos de pie riendo a carcajadas, como si por un momento hubiesen cambiado el mundo dentro de ese pequeño escondite.
Adoro mi trabajo porque gracias a él he conocido gente que me ha enseñado a vivir. Y esta película es una muestra de lo poderoso que puede ser el arte, porque nos conecta con la parte más hermosa de nuestro ser, la empatía y la humanidad.
