When I wrote my post about the 4th season of Stranger things. It was in the middle of the volume 1 released in May and I wasn't planning to write more about this season. However, after watching the last two episodes from volume 2 I had to write a part 2 for that. Actually, the hype began with the tease video of the character introduced during this season, Eddie playing the guitar. My wife tagged me on Facebook to watch the tease. The tease had only the intro of the music, however, those who like music and most specifically rock recognize it as fast as possible! "Master of puppets" from Metallica.

In my previous post I stated how the music was important for this Tv series, and in the first half of the season music played an active role to fight the evil, in this case was Kate Bush hit "Running up that hill". Also, there was that scene in the psychiatric ward where the director mentioned that they had music therapy that was very effective to help the brain to heal. So for the second half of the tv show released at the beginning of July, they used this song from Metallica.

Different from Kate Bush hit, which was buried deep in the ground, this Metallica song is still played in the set lists of the band and also on the radios around the world before its appearance in the tv show, despite being an 80's song. It is interesting that the directors choose what I call an "old but still new song". Everyone that is introduced to rock/metal goes through Metallica, and of course "Master of Puppets"is one of their top hits. And the awesome thing is that also plays an active role in the TV show. It is used to fight also the evil Vecna. The interesting part is that we can associate the "master of the puppets" of the lyrics with this evil guy from the tv show:

Master of puppets, pulling your strings
Twisting your mind, smashing your dreams

In addition, Metallica released a statement on the band's official Instagram with the same conclusion that I made how music is important for the tv show

It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.

I like a lot this TV show, not only because of the music tracks behind it, but also about all the sci-fi and general nostalgia that it brings. However, the end of the season I guess was too confusing, and I think that they lost a bit, it was something like that: "Oh no something bad happened....and then...few it was bad but it is over....and then...oh no it isn't over". Of course, I am sad about the premature loss of a character in the TV show, but I got used to that after watching too much Game of Thrones. So for me still, the music saved this season. I am going to finish this review with the youtube video from the so special scene:
