Spinach Dal or dal palak is a very basic, simple yet delicious Indian dish. It is made using lentils, spinach and onion tomato puree. You can choose which dal you want to add here; it could be Arhar dal, Urad dal, Moong dal or Chana dal or even a mix of two or more, depending on your taste. But I prefer adding chana dal, purely as per my taste preferences.
This is a very comforting dish, meaning it satisfies your taste buds given its wonderful taste and is also very healthy since it has spinach ( a great source of iron) and lentils (source of proteins). So the combination makes it a great, healthy recipe. You can also choose if you wish to keep it watery like dals or semi solid like palak. Again your choice completely based on your preferences.
This recipe can be easily consumed by toddlers also, just be keeping the spices to a little normal level. You can choose to have it with rice or chapatis.
Let’s see how we cook this.
