Yes, that is the name of the store! It's genius! I love it!

The New Job

All of the accounts on my various social media accounts had become somewhat dormant while I focused on getting adjusting to my new job.

I even had to post this photo on Facebook to let people know I was still alive!

That's not dandruff on my shirt either. It's supposed to represent stars as it's a Star Wars t-shirt. It has a picture of Darth Vader with the words "Best. Dad. Ever." written underneath it.

Ironically enough, and appropriate for Foodies Bee Hive, my job is in food production. The company I work for creates quiches, meat pies, lasagnes and various other pre-packaged meals that are sold at the local supermarket chains under different brand names.

My shift is at 6am, meaning that I need to be there at 5:45 am to wrestle with the hit-and-miss biometric fingerprint scanner to clock in (it took me 8 minutes to clock out once!), put my lunchbox in the staff room fridge and get changed into my work's protective equipment and into work.

Early Starts

All of that means I need to get up at 4 am, 4:15 am and 4:30 am. I catch a bus at 5:07am (when it's not late like it was this morning) for 5 stops and get off right near a petrol / gas station for a quick breakfast.

In between the bus stop and the petrol station is the First Things First Coffee drive through coffee shop.
They open from 5:30am and go through to 4pm.
Sometimes I see the staff putting the sign out on the way to work.

They don't accept cash as a Covid 19 precaution. I hope one day they accept Hive though!

The small shop / store has both a "drive-thru" and a path to a walk up window with a menu. The shop is on an island made by the looping road.

The Menu

The menu offers more than just coffee, but other coffee and chocolate related drinks along with desserts, snacks like cookies and sugary treats, but they also offer toasted sandwiches with different fillings.

Chicken and Cheese Toastie

After ordering, I sat down on the swing chair outside and waited. It couldn't have been more than a minute before I was told that my order was ready.

The bread is toasted to a mouth watering golden brown, the smell is divine and the light crunch that met my ears as I sank my teeth into the hot chicken and cheese filling was so satisfying after a hard day at work.

Absolute bliss.

I discovered, much to my amusement, a novelty message on their napkin:

"Clean yourself up, you're a mess!"

Even though the shop is on Salisbury Highway, the swing seat is situated far enough away from the street that you can zone out and ignore the traffic noise, and it provides a brilliant place for a quick respite after work.

Anyway, that's all from me with this particular entry.
Until next time,

See you in the kitchen!
