Baked Turkey Leg Italian Way


BAKED TURKEY LEG

Today I want to share with you a recipe as easy as tasty. Baked turkey leg is a simple plate to prepare when you want to serve a special dish to amaze all your guests. I love this recipe, because it reminds me when I was little and it was prepared for the big Sunday lunch. Requires very few ingredients, which make very delicious!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Turkey legs 2 kg
  • Medium potatoes 4
  • Ground pepper as you like
  • Extra virgin olive oil as you like
  • Rosemary 2 twigs
  • Laurel 2 leaves
  • Sage 2 leaves
  • Garlic 2 cloves

Procedure:

First of all, rinse the turkey well to remove small pieces of bone. Peel the garlic and divide into several parts, than finely chop a sprig of rosemary, and sage. Put on the meat salt and make small incisions on the meat where you put the garlic. Then, add the chopped herbs and massaging it well with your hands. Finally wet the meat with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.


Leave the meat in the pan and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Let it flavor in the fridge for at least 2 hour. Remember that the longer you let it flavor, the better it will be! So if you can, let it marinate all night in the fridge.


Past the time you want, peel the potatoes and cut into pieces and wash it to remove starch. Now, you can put patatos around the meat or you should scald them before the dressing.

Usually after cutting them into pieces, I boil a pot with a water. When it boils, add the chopped potatoes and a pinch of salt. Waiting for the water to boil again (about 3 minutes) and I drain them well. I learned this trick from my friend, so the potatoes will be crunchy outside and soft inside.



Now, you can dressing the potatoes with extra virgin olive oil, salt, rosemary and ground pepper. You can decide the amount of these ingredients according to your taste. Lay the potatoes around the meat and bake at 200° for 1 hour/ 1 hour and half, turning the meat and greasing a half cooked. The last 20 minutes of cooking, you can put the grill cooking in your oven.


You can serve this dish at any lunch or dinner where you want to make your guests happy with little work.
