Morning everybody, I hope you are in a good condition and staying safe, and my biggest hope is for the covid to end forever.
Today, like always, I am going to share an old place for eating beef bone soup in Pekanbaru city. Sadly I can't ask about this place because I can't find the owner, but the first time I went there was about 11 or 12 years ago. As far i know this place only has 2 branches in Pekanbaru city, the main branch is at Soekarno Hatta street, and the second branch is at Pinang street.
As you can see, the building looks old, and some ceiling has been broken but don't worry it still safe and after you enter the building, there are some table you can choose, regularly you can pick 4 chair table but if you bring more people, feel free to ask the the waiter to move the table closer.
You can order the food directly from the cashier table or you can just find the table first and the waiter will come to ask you what kind you want to eat today. There are 5 kind of soup available for you to order, the first is Sop Tunjang (Beef Bones Soup), Sop Daging (Beef Soup - Meat Only), Sop Ayam (Chicken Soup) , Sop Campur (Beef Bones Soup + Beef Soup - Meat Only) and the last is Sum-Sum Soup (Bone Marrow Soup).
Because my mother often cooks beef meat soup and chicken soup and I don't really like all meat soup, so i love to try the Beef Bones Soup. After telling the waiter you just have to wait until the waiter delivers your food directly to your table, and while waiting for the waiter, you can select a few chips to eat directly or mix it in your soup.
On the table you can find tomato sauce, sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce and spicy chili sauce.
A portion of the soup is not small, it is a full bowl of soup, and they got you a plate of rice with a sliced lime. You can use the lime to lower the fishy smell from the beef meat and beef fat, or you can just ignore it without using it.
Every single person has their own way to eat soup with rice, either mix the rice directly with the soup or take some rice and dip it in the soup and eat it, there’s no rule here, you can just do it on your way, nobody will bother you because they are busy with their food.
From my point of view, the soup is a bit salty, but I can't give the exact level of saltiness, because I know that people have different saltiness levels, but it is still good for me.
Forgot to mention that they not only serve soup, but they do serve some juice and other kinds of drinks like Iced tea, hot tea, hot cold lime, coffee etc.
Now we are talking about the price, a portion of soup only 20K IDR ($1.5), a cheap price considering the beef meat price at that time. 20K IDR for delicious food like this is so worth it.
