Delicious Okra and Shrimp Stir Fry.

Green Avocado Healthy Food Presentation.png

Fry okra with shrimp is a traditional dish in our cuisine. It goes so well with rice, I try to make it every other week. The recipe is straightforward and doesn't require many ingredients yet it's delicious. You can make the recipe vegan-friendly by avoiding shrimp if you want.

Also, I will share a few tips so the okra will not get slimy. So, let's see the recipe.

Ingredients.

  • Okra
  • Potato
  • Onion slices
  • Green chili
  • Cumin (optional)
  • Shrimp
  • Cooking oil
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt

Step-by-step process.

Cut/slice the okra and potato the way you want. Thin slices make the dish comparatively more crispy.

Fry the onion slices for a minute, when they become soft add some cumin seeds.

Add the okra, potato, green chili, turmeric powder, and salt.

Tips.

  • Don't put any lead on, cook on medium-low heat.
  • Don't mix the vegetable often, just a few flips.
  • Don't add any water.

These tips will help to avoid the recipe to become slimy.

Don't overcook, just keep at medium heat. When one side is fried flip it and cook for another few minutes. It will give a crispy texture and the best taste.

This is what it will look like. It only takes around 10 minutes to cook. And cutting/slicing okra is very simple. So the whole process will take no more than 15-20 minutes. You will get a delicious dish in less than half an hour!

Serve it with rice or the way you like.

I hope you try it, it's so delicious. I have seen that in some region, people like to use butter and olive oil, and also they fry it in a cast iron pan. I believe that's a brilliant idea though I have not tried them.

Have a good day, everyone.
