The holy month of Ramadan is here and millions of Muslims around the world will be fasting every day before the sun rises until the sun sets!
Depending on which part of the world you live, the fasting window differs...some will fast for 10-12 hours while others can go up to 21 hours...all depends on the daylight!
During this holy month, on top of fasting, the Muslims will dwell in maximum prayers they can.
Iftaar - Breaking the fast
Once the sun sets, the people fasting breaks their fast and can eat/drink before the sun rises again the next day morning.
Iftaar also differs from country to country...everyone has their way of breaking the fast.
During this whole month, I will be sharing my daily Iftaar table on Hive that we put up every day for the family.
Today was the first fasting day here in Mauritius and here's my first Iftaar table!
Dates!!!
One item that I think is present on every one's table around the world for iftaar is date!
Here also you will find dates nearly everyday on my table!
Burgers...what!?!
Oh yes...I am progressive...lol!
It's been long the kids did not enjoy some burgers...we are still in lockdown and not so safe to go to restaurants...
Why worry when daddy is a chef!?
So, yes today I made some beef burgers with avocado and eggs...everyone loved it!
French fries and onion rings!
Chebakia
My wife, being Moroccan...got her eating habits too...
So there were chebakia also, a sweet made mainly with sesame and honey which accompanies Harira soup. - I didn't took the picture of this one though!
Fruits
Impossible to break the fast without some fruits...they do so much good in rehydration of your body after a long day without any liquid!
Mauritian cheese naan
We all know the Indian naans...but this one is quite different and cooked in the oven.
One of my favorite during the month of Ramadan!
Sweet and savoury + tea + milkshake
Today, we also fried some samosas, spring rolls and wontons - on the front left of the photo!
The oreo milkshake was made by my sister in law and added to my table!

My usual milk tea while my wife had her Moroccan mint tea!
Ps. Hmmm had a snicker and bounty on the table too!

So here we are with the first iftaar table of this Ramadan 2021.
I always try to make different foods and snacks so that we don't get same thing every day...which can be boring on the long run!
Some items will repeat for sure, like dates, tea, fruits.
Hope you enjoy this first one!
Stay tuned for the 2nd one tomorrow around this same time!
Until then!
Stay awesome!
