Healthy and tasty round gourd (tinda) vegetable recipe in a clay pot

let's make food in a healthy way with clay pot 🍯

It is important to make regular dish with some twist so that we don't get bored. Round gourd vegetable ( tinde ki sabji) is quite common to our families, especially in north India. This is a light, healthy vegetable which is good option for vegetarian.

And if it is made in a more healthy way then it becomes even better. We can make it in an clay pot instead of kadai and fry pan.

There are many benefits of cooking in clay pot , like :

  • We need less oil to make any recipe.
  • The food is cooked on low flame and tastes very good.
  • Whichever vessel we cook food in, its metal gets mixed with food, according to aayurdeva Clay is good for health , so it is good to cook food in the clay pot.

yes it takes a little more time, But the food is healthy and full of taste.



This time i made this tinde ki sabji in a very simple way, using Just tinde (round gourd) , green chilli and some herbs.
Mostly i also cook food using fry pan and pressure cooker. But now a days i inspired by my father in law and sister in law, so we start to cook some recipe in clay pot. Which is easy and simple to make. We can enjoy this with chapati at our lunch dinner.

INGREDIENTS ✅

  • Tinda / round gourd 250 gram
  • Green chilli 1
  • Mustard Oil 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 4 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp ( optional)
  • Dried mango powder 1 tsp


METHOD ✅

Step 1 :

first wash the tinda and chopped like this.

Chopped in the thin piece, so it cook easily in the pot.

Now put all slices in the bowl and wash well with the water. And strain all excess water.

Step 2 :

Now take a pot, put oil and heat the oil on the low flame.

When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and hing in it.

When the seeds start to crackle, add chopped tinda in it.

Give it a mix and add salt and turmeric powder. Again mixed it well, add little water, cover the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes on the low flame.

Step 3 :

When tinda start to cook, add red chilli powder and coriander powder in it.

Mix it well and again cook for 2-3 minutes. Stir occasionally. When tinda start to cook fully add garam masala and mango powder. Mix well and turn off the flame.

Your round gourd ( tinda) is ready to enjoy.

Remember keep the flame always low.
Serve it with hot chapati and enjoy the healthy sabzi 😀✨.

Give it a try, you will find the difference in the taste and next time you will definitely make it in the pot.

You can also add tomato, potato and some other veggies to give it a twist.
