Avocado in a dessert – yes or no? When I first sow this recipe, I was quite sceptical, but at the same time very curious and attracted by the unusual combination (at least for me). A quick overview and the simplicity of the recipe convinced me to give it a try. Scroll down to see the full recipe but also to see the “verdict from our grand jury”.
- 1 avocado
- teaspoon of cocoa powder
- tablespoon of brew sugar/maple syrup/agave syrup
- 2 eggs
- 40 g of flower (I’ve used spelt flour)
- teaspoon of baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 30g of dark chocolate
Above ingredients are for a 15 x 15cm size tray.
Peal the avocado and mix it with eggs in a blender (or with a stick blender like I did).
Add the mixture of flour and baking powder.
Gently also mix the cocoa powder.
Add the sugar (or maple syrup like in my case).
Chop the dark cholate in smaller pieces and add it to the mixture.
Transfer the mixture into a smaller try (that was pre-greased). Bake it at 180oC for 40-45 minutes.
“Our grand jury” (our family members) applauded to healthy ingredients and simple baking procedures but were very much divided on the taste 😊. One voted as “very good”, one was for “nothing special, but ok is healthy”, one was “we will never do it again”. My Hive friends, if you will try this recipe too or if you have any other experiences with avocado in desserts let me know what you think!
