In the same way, you can fill these empanadas with what you like the most, for example, a shredded meat with yellow cheese, obtaining a variation of a very delicious and typical dish of Venezuelan cuisine.

  • 250 gr de Plátano Maduro / 250 gr of Ripe Banana
  • Harina de Maíz (Harina PAN) / Corn Flour (Harina PAN)
  • 100 gr de Queso Mozzarella / 100 gr of Mozzarella Cheese

  • Aceite Vegetal, para freír / Vegetal Oil, to fry
  • Sal, al gusto / Salt, to taste

Preparación / Preparation:

1- Empezamos cocinando el plátano / We start by cooking the banana.

The first thing is to wash and cut the banana into medium pieces. It is not necessary to peel it before cooking, I like it better that way, it gives it more color and then when it is ready you just remove the peel.

In a pot, heat enough water to cook the bananas. The color of the water is because first add salt and a little ground cinnamon, it gives it a lot of flavor and the aroma is incredible.

Cook the bananas for a few minutes until they are soft. The time depends on how ripe the banana is or the size of the cuts.

When the fork can penetrate the banana without any opposition, it is ready. Let it cool for a few minutes and peel it off.

2- Continuamos haciendo la masa de las empanadas / We continue making the dough for the empanadas.

The first thing is to mash the bananas very well, and here it depends more on your taste, because leave it with small pieces to give it more texture, or you can leave them more squashed and creamy.

Add a tablespoon of sugar, a cinnamon powder and a pinch of nutmeg, mix very well.

Then add salt to taste and PAN flour, then mix and get a dough with a good texture to make the shape of the empanadas. The amount of flour depends on you, I add little by little and knead until I get the consistency that I like the most.

You can also add a little water in case it ends up too dry.

3- Por fin, es hora de armar las empanadas / Finally, it's time to assemble the empanadas.

We start by cutting the cheese into small pieces or sticks of the size in which you want the empanadas.

On a flat surface we place a plastic and then we take a little of the dough and spread it over the plastic, until it gives it a rounded shape.

Then we add a suitable amount of cheese, not too much so that you can close the empanada without problems, but not too little either, because it is sad to eat one without filling, jajaja.

We close the pie and give it the shape of a half moon. We can do it with a deep enough plate, or we can shape the edge.

In a pan with enough hot oil, let them cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side.

They have to be this golden brown before turning them over. Also remember that the oil has to be very hot to give the dough a crispier consistency and not be too soft.

A mí me pasó, no comentan mis mismos errores, jajaja.

When they are ready, remove them from the oil and let them cool a bit, so as not to burn yourself with the first bite. It happened to me, they don't comment on my same mistakes, jajaja.

Just look at how delicious they look, the cheese is perfectly melted and the combination of both cheeses creates a flavor that explodes on the taste buds.
