It was an interesting morning. A few friends came over for a visit yesterday and brought us some bread. The did bring a bunch that we were not able to finish up everything when we snacked. But no worries, all is not lost. I love eating bread so I cooked up some omelet which made for a colorful plate.
Of course, breakfast wouldn't be complete without #coffee. So I'm starting by making a cup from Doña Remedios Trinidad Highland Coffee which is a combination of Liberica and Robusta coffee beans.
Fun facts: Robusta contains the lowest caffeine among bean varieties while Liberica produces the biggest beans.
This has been my preferred brewing method as of late. It's quick, simple and clean-up is a breeze. I put 1 and 1/2 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee and added around 375 ml. of hot (not boiling) water, which I left to stand for 5 minutes, before pouring the black liquid into a mug.
It was a nice cup of coffee. Just right. The strong aromatic taste of the Liberica, combined with the simple flavor profile of the Robusta made for a good cup. It doesn't pack a punch that I usually drink after an overnighter, but clearly this is a good cup with wood, earthy tones.
I gotta say, I'm enjoying this gift from our friends from the DRT local government. Free stuff always tastes better. lol
For the omelet, I used 1 egg, 1 stem of Pechay, I small leaf of fresh oregano from the garden and added a dash of salt, pepper, turmeric and some mushroom powder. It was a nice combination of flavors but the colors needed another element. The orange made it really sweet and added another level of nutrients to the meal. :)
T.G.I.F. Another week passed by so quickly. Summertime is almost here with 33° C temperatures and 5% precipitation. I hope that things continue to get better with the pandemic situation and the roll out of the vaccine get's under way soon.
With that, I would like to wish everyone a relaxing weekend. Summertime always brings back happy memories. I hope that this summer gives us lot's of happy memories to remember.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
