On Sunday afternoon, I went hiking, and I can't wait to share it here soon. That was after a long month of hiatus. My body was truly activated back to climbing but left some pain up until now. Anyway, after my excruciating climb, I went down the opposite trail, and I found my way to Lok Fu, which was the next area from where I initially started my climb. I was exhausted, hungry, and dehydrated, as my water wasn't enough to quench my thirst for the whole climb. I underestimated the hike duration and only brought a single bottle of water. I regretted it in the end.
It was around seven in the evening when I reached the base, so I looked for a place to dine. I stumbled upon Food Square, and it became my problem about where to go because there were several restaurants and cafes to choose from. At the end, I chose Koon Thai Cuisine since I haven't tried it yet.
It was just a typical restaurant for me: a cozy and bright interior with a touch of Thai design and display. Gladly, there were quite a few available tables, so I finally found a place to rest my tired legs. Other restaurants in the area were fully occupied, so it took me a while to find a seat.
My iced tea was served first while I was waiting for my order. Although I drank Pocari Sweat beforehand, it was still a relief, as I truly felt so thirsty that night after the whole afternoon hike. At that moment, I didn't mind if I put different types of liquid in my tummy. I just want to drink a lot.
I'm quite a fan of Thai food. But among all the dishes on the menu, I just ordered the popular one, which is Hainanese chicken rice. I tried the Singaporean and Thai versions of this recipe, and I liked them both. What stood out in this recipe is the way the chicken is cooked and the flavorful rice, along with the sauce and side dishes.
The Hainanese chicken rice in this restaurant wasn't that enticing to me, though. The plating also matters to me, and they serve it ordinarily. The best Hainanese chicken rice I tried before was in a Singaporean restaurant. I did like the sauce and pickled carrot and radish as a side dish. It was also served with chicken soup, but I found the taste weird, so it was left behind. I'd rather drink the iced lemon tea. Nonetheless, I felt full that night, probably because I drank too many drinks, lol.
After eating, I walk for a while around the atrium with its cute and colorful installations before heading to the MTR Station. It was an exhausting day, I should say. But it will be the start of a new chapter of adventures for Jane the Explorer.
I'll see you in my travel blog soon ☺️.
