Hoy les traigo una publicación desde el conuco, quiero compartirles imágenes de mi siembra de yuca, y enseñarles lo sencillo que es prepararlas en casa. Éstas en específico las acompañé con un mojito casero, también con ingredientes de la siembra.
Today I bring you a publication from the conuco, I want to share images of my cassava planting, and show you how simple it is to prepare them at home. I accompanied these specifically with a homemade mojito, also with ingredients from the sowing.

Una de esas es la Yuca, un árbol largo, delgado y alto...

Para saber si la yuca está lista para ser cosechada tienen que pasar seis meses, las hojas comienzan a caerse y ponerse de color amarillo,

En ese momento se comienza a abrir la tierra,

Con ayuda de un Pico, se hacer huecos justo en el piso

La planta se va encorvando justo en ese momento con ayuda de un machete le corto las hojas de arriba.

Comienzo a halar para aflojar la tierra y que salga más fácil.
I start to pull to loosen the soil and make it come out easier.
Luego se van cortando las raíces y a las puntas se les quita los costados, cosechamos todo lo que deseemos. Debemos estar pendientes de que la yuca no esté amarilla, debe ser blanca. No comer la yuca amarilla porque puede ser peligroso.
Then the roots are cut and the sides are removed from the tips, we harvest everything we want. We must be aware that the cassava is not yellow, it must be white. Do not eat yellow yucca because it can be dangerous.
Luego de cosechar se mojan las raíces, se va pelando la concha marrón y la morada, dejando solamente lo blanco del interior.
After harvesting, the roots are soaked, the brown and purple shells are peeled, leaving only the white inside.
Luego de pelar todas las yucas, se lavan y se meten en una olla limpias, listas para hervir.
After peeling all the yuccas, they are washed and put in a clean pot, ready to boil.
Se hierven las yucas con agua y sal, hasta que ablanden, tienen que estar tan blanditas que cuando le coloques un tenerdor éste se hunda.
The yuccas are boiled with water and salt, until they soften, they have to be so soft that when you place a fork on it, it sinks.
Sacamos sin agua, dejamos enfriar.
We take out without water, let cool.
Preparamos un mojito de nuestra preferencia, yo piqué en trocitos cebolla, aguacate, tomate, cilantro, machaqué ajo y revolví todo junto a un poco de aceite, vinagre, sal y azúcar.
We prepared a mojito of our choice, I chopped onion, avocado, tomato, cilantro, crushed garlic and stirred everything together with a little oil, vinegar, salt and sugar.
Y ya tenemos lista nuestra sabrosa yuca junto a un buen mojito! Directo le da tierra a mi mesa. Yo siempre digo que lo mejor que nos podemos comer es lo que nosotros mismos cosechamos, ya que somos personas autosustentables, todo el aguacate, el tomate y los aliños son también parte de mi cosecha anual. Estoy orgulloso y contento con ello.
And we already have our tasty yucca ready together with a good mojito! Directly it gives land to my table. I always say that the best thing we can eat is what we harvest ourselves, since we are self-sustaining people, all the avocado, tomato and dressings are also part of my annual harvest. I am proud and happy about it.
