This is not a recipe. This post is for sharing a weird combination of food that I have experienced since I was little. It comes from my birth land Barquisimeto, and it was the typical Breakfast/lunch at my grandma's house. It is not a noodle soup or ramen, it is not a pabellon, it is not a regular pasta or pasta salad, it's sort of all that combined lol.
I don't even have a name for this meal. When I would wake up at my Grandma's, she would place all these foods separately, and it was our job to serve ourselves and combine all in one plate.
Esta no es una receta. Esta publicación es para compartir una extraña combinación de comida que he experimentado desde que era pequeño. Proviene de mi tierra natal Barquisimeto, y era el típico Desayuno/almuerzo en casa de mi abuela. No es una sopa de fideos o ramen, no es un pabellón, no es una pasta normal o una ensalada de pasta, es una especie de combinación jajaja.
Ni siquiera tengo un nombre para esta comida. Cuando me despertaba en casa de mi abuela, ella colocaba todos estos alimentos por separado, y era nuestro trabajo servirnos y combinar todo en un plato.
Spaghetti
One of the side dishes is spaghetti. They have to be well cooked, but without any sauce. Sometimes, people add only butter to keep the spaghetti separated.Also, this is the main type of pasta eaten in my home land; we barely eat a different kind/shape.
Una de las guarniciones o contornos son los espaguetis. Tienen que estar bien cocidos, pero sin salsa. A veces, la gente agrega solo mantequilla para mantener los espaguetis separados. Además, este es el tipo principal de pasta que se come en mi tierra natal; casi nunca comemos un tipo/forma diferente.
Black Beans
This type of beans is very common in my country. We call them Caraotas, and they are part of many traditional preparations. In this plate, we add a black beans soup. We want the broth from those beans to give taste to the spaghetti like noodles get from ramen broth.
Este tipo de frijoles es muy común en mi país. Las llamamos Caraotas y forman parte de muchas preparaciones tradicionales. En este plato, agregamos una sopa de frijoles negros. Queremos que el caldo de esas caraotas le dé sabor a los espaguetis como los fideos toman del caldo de ramen.
Tajadas
Fried bananas are also something very typical. This is not those sweet bananas we use for dessert. This is a type of banana we call plátano, it has a more astringent texture, and we never, but never eat it raw as common bananas. Our preferred way is to cut them in slices and fry them.
Los plátanos fritos también son algo muy típico. Estos no son esas bananas dulces que usamos para el postre. Este es un tipo de banana que llamamos plátano, tiene una textura más astringente, y nunca, pero nunca lo comemos crudo como la banana común. Nuestra forma preferida es cortarlas en rodajas y freírlas.
Mayonnaise
This is the weird part. In my home land it is frequent to eat black beans with Mayonnaise. Also, it is accustomed to eat pasta with Mayonnaise. So, if we have both in the same plate it's only natural to add this white sauce as well lol. I honestly love to mix the beans with mayonnaise, but not entirely. I want traces of mayonnaise still intact while I eat. lemon-based mayonnaise are the best for this. Yes, it's weird.
Esta es la parte extraña. En mi tierra natal es frecuente comer caraotas con mayonesa. Además, se suele comer pasta con mayonesa. Entonces, si tenemos ambos en el mismo plato, es natural agregar esta salsa blanca también jejeje. Sinceramente, me encanta mezclar las caraotas con mayonesa, pero no del todo. Quiero restos de mayonesa intactos mientras como. La mayonesa a base de limón es la mejor para esto. Sí, es raro.
Do you find this plate coherent? or is it weird? I honestly love it, but I understand if others might not like it at all hehe. Food awaken memories, and eating this means going back to my Grandma's house one morining while visiting.
