Este año pasé de ser una persona a la que le daba igual comerse un helado, a ser una especie de fanática. ¿Será esto algo bueno o malo? No lo sé, pero lo que sí sé es que seguir la ruta del helado es algo emocionante, divertido y con mucho sabor. Ya he pasado por tres heladerías diferentes en esta ruta y vengo a hablarles de estos sitios, de sus helados y de lo que me han parecido.
Hoy empezaré la ruta por una heladería ícono de mi ciudad Puerto La Cruz, llamada el Chelito, recientemente fue reinaugurada y me llamó mucho la atención ir a este lugar a probar los helados, aunque es una heladería de vieja data nunca antes me había interesado por ir hasta sus instalaciones, pues como ya les comenté hasta hace poco he comenzado a sentir gran gusto por los helados.

I don't know, but what I do know is that following the ice cream route is something exciting, fun and with a lot of flavor. I have already passed by three different ice cream shops on this route and I am here to tell you about these places, their ice creams, and what I thought of them.
Today I will start the route by an iconic ice cream shop in my city Puerto La Cruz, called El Chelito, it was recently reopened and it caught my attention to go to this place to try the ice cream, although it is an old ice cream shop I had never before been interested in going to their facilities, because as I told you until recently I have begun to feel great taste for ice cream.
Uno de los sabores que me llamaba mucho la atención probar era el de pistacho, que no es un sabor que usualmente se consiga en todas las heladerías de mi ciudad y sabiendo que en esta heladería lo ofrecen, me pareció el momento y el lugar idóneo para lanzarme en esta aventura dulce.
El sitio es pequeño y bastante acogedor, la nueva decoración en blanco y azul pastel transmite mucha delicadeza y hacen que el ambiente sea agradable, al llegar se pueden apreciar los llamativos colores de los helados, aunque debo mencionar que bandejas vacías ese día en la vitrina no es algo que considero positivo en una heladería.
One of the flavors that caught my attention was pistachio, which is not a flavor usually available in all the ice cream shops in my city. Knowing that this ice cream shop offers it, I thought it was the right time and the right place to embark on this sweet adventure.
The place is small and quite cozy. The new decoration in white and pastel blue transmits a lot of delicacy and makes the atmosphere pleasant. Upon arrival, you can appreciate the bright colors of the ice cream, although I must mention that empty trays that day in the display case are not something I consider positive in an ice cream shop.
La barquilla que ofrecen es conocida como Barquillón y puedes seleccionar dos sabores, adicional a esto también puedes elegir un topping y un sirope. Tienen una buena variedad de toppings para escoger entre galletas, diversas lluvias de chocolate o caramelos e incluso gomitas, y en cuanto al sirope puedes elegir entre arequipe, fresa o chocolate, tiene un valor de $ 2.7.
El helado de pistacho no supero mis expectativas, pues consideré que estaba excesivamente dulce. En mi primera visita también probé el choco stracciatella que tampoco puedo decir que se haya vuelto mi favorito. También aproveché para probar, gracias a mi mamá que me acompañó ese día, el pie de limón que pudo tener un sabor más natural y el ron con pasas, al cual siento que le faltó ese golpe de ron que deseas encontrar en un helado de este tipo. En definitiva, mi primera visita a la heladería El Chelito, no superó mis expectativas.
Sin embargo, decidí darle una nueva oportunidad, y en una nueva visita acompaña de más familiares tuve la oportunidad de probar otros sabores como el de pistacho con chocolate que me sorprendió gratamente, fue un cambio del cielo a la tierra, el toque justo de dulce para mi gusto y un rico sabor a pistacho con ese toque achocolatado, también pude degustar el helado de snickers con una base de mani y dulce de leche que me encantó, el helado de dulce de leche es maravilloso y ni hablar del choco brownie con un profundo sabor a chocolate y tropezones de brownie que maravillaron a mi paladar, también cabe acotar que volví a probar el helado de ron con pasas, que es el favorito de mi mamá y está vez si sentí que tenía ese sabor a licor que lo caracteriza.

The pistachio ice cream did not exceed my expectations, as I found it to be excessively sweet. On my first visit I also tried the choco stracciatella, which I can't say has become my favorite. I also took the opportunity to try, thanks to my mom who accompanied me that day, the lemon pie which could have had a more natural flavor and the rum raisin, which I feel lacked that hit of rum that you want to find in an ice cream of this type. All in all, my first visit to the ice cream shop El Chelito, did not exceed my expectations.
However, I decided to give it another chance, and in a new visit accompanied by more family members I had the opportunity to try other flavors like the pistachio with chocolate which pleasantly surprised me, it was a change from heaven to earth, just the right touch of sweetness for my taste and a rich pistachio flavor with that chocolatey touch, I also tasted the snickers ice cream with a peanut and dulce de leche base that I loved, the dulce de leche ice cream is wonderful and not to mention the choco brownie with a deep chocolate flavor and brownie pieces that amazed my palate, it is also worth mentioning that I tried again the rum raisin ice cream, which is my mom's favorite and this time I felt that it had that liquor flavor that characterizes it.
Los helados tienen una consistencia cremosa y suave, que me recordaron un poco al helado que alguna vez probé en Buenos Aires, la barquilla es bien crujiente con un delicado sabor y sin exceso de azúcar. Me alegra de haberle dado una segunda oportunidad a este lugar, porque esta vez mi corazón dulce sí que latió a mil por hora.
