MY WAY OF COOKING CALAMARI (CALAMARES)

Good day everyone, as you can see for my last and latest blog almost all of my content is about cooking because I really love to cook. This time I'm going to share to you my way of cooking calamari or squid calamari, hope you like it.

Ingredients
1 kg. of medium to large sized squid cleaned and sliced into rings
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup of breadcrumbs(optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups cooking oil

First, clean the squid and slice into rings then prepare the mixture in different bowl or container.

There are different methods on how to make this dish; the most usual does not involve breadcrumbs

Use equal parts of flour and cornstarch for an unbelievably crunchy coating.

When the oil is hot enough, fry or deep-fry the squid until the color of the coating turns brown. This should only take about 2 to 3 minutes in medium heat. Do not overcook the squid. Do not overcrowd the pan and cook in batches as needed. Then remove the fried squid from the cooking pot and transfer in a strainer or if you don't have a strainer put in a plate lined with paper towels.
