FOODlog #395: Simple Homecook Meal

My area is having a water cut for the next 3-4 days so my mum cooked some soup the previous night for our meals today.

She cooked some lotus root and groundnuts soup with pork and red dates. I don't really liked the dried red dates in the soup as it gives it sweetness. I prefer it being fully savoury which you can omit the red dates and just cook it with lotus root and groundnuts. For the pork you can use your favorite cut of meat but pork ribs are a great option as it gives lots of flavor to the soup.

Mum also managed to cook a stir fried bell pepper dish before the water cut. It's just simply cut capsicum into strips and stir fried with garlic and seasoned with salt and oyster sauce.

Ate these with rice. What lovely homecook simple meal for lunch and dinner today.
