FOODlog #391: Korean Barbecue Dinner

Went for a Korean buffet yesterday with a friend of mine. Treated him this buffet which was quite affordable and well worth the meal and the price. It was only RM25 ($7) for the buffet with free refills on side dishes, grilled pork and chicken, steamed egg, and also Kimchi soup.

Here are some of the pics of what we had.

We got some grilled pork belly and grilled boneless chicken thigh. I took some sweet Korean barbecue sauce that was sweet and savoury and had sesame seeds. Very flavorful and fragrant.

We of course also got Kimchi. It was slightly spicy and a good balance of sour with the spicy. The cabbage was nice and crunchy and sweet.

One of the really delicious dishes which I never had before at a Korean place was the steamed egg called - Gyeranjjim

For some reason I've never ordered it at a Korean restaurant before. They served this and the Kimchi soup as the first dishes when we reach our table. It was part of the buffet which was refillable as well upon request.

Also got some japchae. This was a really basic japchae that didn't have any vegetables with it. My wife definitely makes a more premium version at home but this one was good too 😄

All in all, I rate this a pretty decent buffet considering its price point, variety of food, and quantity. Will definitely give it a try again in the future whenever I'm craving some Korean food.
