Hey there, Hive Fam! I wish you well today as you read my new blog. Let's create an ice candy on these very hot days in the Philippines.

I have mentioned in my weekend experience blog that my wife prepared the equipment needed for our small business. We had this before, but due to our very busy schedule in school, we have stopped it. Let me share with you my very own recipe for making a special ice candy.

First, we need to prepare the following ingredients:

  • 10 Liters of Purified Water
  • 1/4 kilogram of starch
  • 1 3/4 kilograms of sugar
  • 2 cans of condensed milk
  • 2 cans of evaporated milk
  • flavoring (in our case, we used ripe mango).

Are You Ready? Let's do this.

My wife prepared the large cooking pot, which we are going to use for cooking. She made sure that it was clean before use. I even asked her to also clean the kitchen area so that I could start the cooking process.

1st Step

I put the large pot on the burner. I poured 10 liters of water into the pot using our 2-liter container.

High Heat until it boils.

2nd Step

I added the starch to the pot and dissolved it well by stirring it properly. I waited 8 to 10 minutes for it to boil. While I was waiting, I stirred the mixture to avoid lumps.

Remember to dissolve the starch and stir it well to avoid lumps in the mixture.

3rd Step

I added the 1 3/4 Kilograms of sugar and made sure to dissolve it to achieve the best sweetness. I stirred it well until I could sense the smoothness of the mixture. I then set the burner to medium to slow heat.

We need to get the exact sweetness to achieve a delightful taste.

4th Step

I poured the evaporated milk, followed by the condensed milk. Again, I mixed it well.

This will add a creamy and yummy taste.

It helps to achieve the best cold treat.

5th Step

After getting the exact mixture of the recipe, I then added the flavoring. I dissolved mango-flavored powder in water and poured it into the pot. I then followed the addition of the minced fresh ripe mango fruit and mixed it together. I turned off the burner and cooled the mixture, waiting for the packing.

Target achieved. It smells so good and I'm sure it has a high pleasing taste.

We waited 3 to 4 hours to cool down the mixture. My wife got so excited about coming back to our small business. We then planned to sell other desserts like mango float, fruit salad, and mango tapioca. If we can still have the time, we would also like to sell the battered egg, known to us here in our country as kwek-kwek.

Let's Pack It.

When the mixture had cooled enough for packing, my wife started her task. We used 1 1/2 by 10-size of plastic. She washed her hands properly with soap and made sure the area was sanitized before the packing process.

She began packing the ice candy, and I was waiting for her to finish a hundred. When she reached the hundred, I then cut the ends of the plastic to give it a clean look. I then placed them in the freezer.

During our process I reminded our kids not to get near to our area to avoid getting any dirt or food contamination since kids are fond touching anything that might have bacteria which is harmful to our body.

Let's Go Back to Business

My wife finished packing the mixture, and we had 265 pieces. We will sell them for 5 pesos each. Many of my learners were asking about this product. They missed it paired with our delicious kwek-kwek. I hope I can share the process of making kwek-kwek next time.

That would be all for today. I hope you like it. If you are near my area, you can order as much as you can. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a great and blessed day!
