The Best Chicken Wings Recipe: Preparation is Key!

The Best Chicken Wings Recipe

I'm going to share with you a secret recipe that's helped get me through an incredibly tough time in my life. What's been tough is the strict diet I've been on that consists of only eating meat once a day, otherwise it's nothing but green, non-starchy veggies blahhhh!

I didn't snag too many pics so you can use your imagination! But, these Chicken wings are killer and I've been tweaking the recipe over the past three months so now I'm revealing what I believe are the perfect wings.

The thing about these bad boys is that they're not fried and actually quite healthy! That's been my thing lately if you've been following my recent posts.

Step 1: The Brine

Brining is something I bet most of you who make wings never do, I know I didn't, but I found it completely changes the flavor of the wings and makes them so much different and taste even better! When you brine, you don't want to leave it longer than 4 hours but no less than 1 hour. Personally I shoot for 2 hours.

The Brine Solution

I'm like Grandma and don't really measure it but if you do here you go:

  • Enough distilled/filtered water to cover the wings
  • 1/4 Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • A bunch of Salt: 1/2 Cup or so
  • 1 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper

It will come out looking like this, make sure you mix it up in the bowl or dish. Go ahead and get your hands dirty, but be sure to wash them so you don't go around your house putting germs everywhere and catching salmonella!

Then you're all set, you can place it in the fridge for 2 hours and watch yourself some netflix, go get your yoga on, make a Hive post or whatever it is you do to pass the time.

Step 2: The Dry Rub

Dry Rub Recipe

1 Part Cayenne
1 Part Tumeric
1/2 Part Sea Salt
1/4 Part Fresh Ground Pepper

I'm not putting measurements there because it's all dependent on how many wings you're making, it should be enough so that the wings are covered. Start small if you're unsure.

Step 3: The Cooking

Now you're going to prepare the oven and set it at 425 F. Cover the pan in Avocado Oil (for high heat) if you don't have a cooking rack like me. Place it in the oven for 20 minutes, pull them out, turn them over and put them back in the oven for 20 more minutes - 40 minutes of cook time total.

Then you have the most amazing chicken wings you'll ever eat. The best part is, these bad boys require no sauce. It's like getting a good steak and you don't need ketchup... unless you just want an excuse to eat ketchup, some people are like that.

Step 4: Eat

The last and most important step is to eat the wings. When you eat them, you want to make sure you eat slow, enjoy the wings and chew each bite 25 times to ensure they're properly digested. Just kidding, you don't have to be that extreme. Not everyone is a freak like me!

Hope you enjoyed the recipe, you can fact check me if you'd like but these are the best wings you'll ever make and they don't require a messy deep fryer. The oil costs a ton of money, oven baked wings are the way to go!
