Who would've guessed that wings and sushi make a filling combo!

When two people go out to eat together the biggest conundrum is finding what appeals to both. In my case, put a fork in me and call me done because I am over sushi. I really like a good set of rolls especially from a place that repeatedly serves equally satisfying sushi every visit. Yakitoria, for example, is one sushi spot that may not be the best in town but the odds are always in their favor.

This is the City Star set which comes with 8 and 6 pieces batches of different rolls for a total of 30 pieces on the board. For a quick bite, this is the best set for me on their menu.

I have grown to avoid eel rolls and prefer something that is not too "fishy". Sounds odd, right? But I do that because Kharkiv isn't a great source of fresh fish. I'd rather get my fill on veg and cheese rolls than placing all my bets on just fish rolls.

The City Star set comes with 8 rolls with salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, and rice wrapped with sesame seeds. Another 8 pieces of dor blue cheese, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and a drizzle of unagi sauce which really calms down all the cheesiness. The dor blue cheese is the trickiest part of the roll but it is put in really minute amounts so that it doesn't take over all the flavor.

Another 6 pieces of rolls with just cucumber and rice with sesame seeds. The tamest of them all. If you thought the pickled ginger was going to cleanse your pallet, then this roll is going to refresh your entire mind. And finally a California roll with surimi which is the best made I've found in town.

I prefer sitting outside overlooking the backside of the city center. This street has a lot of memories hanging around in it. Just looking at it gradually change and become something better every day is an experience by itself.

It was this very street that I used to pass by every day when I was in the first year of med university. The building in front became host to my first licensed business not too many years later. It was this very street that my friends and I used to drive by to go to our favorite lounge. Etc., etc., an endless plethora of stories and memories.

Of course, sitting outside is far more pleasant than sitting within walls where the air is a little more confined than in the open. There are no rubber soles squeaking on the polished tile floor, and there are no clinking sounds from the utensils echoing within the walls.

Recently, I have started to incline towards fried chicken. Glad that Yakatoria has an ensemble of options in that area. A sushi shop with burgers and chicken, is that funny or what? The strongest irony is that the very first KFC of the city is just next door. I wonder how that dynamic works.

I ordered a portion of what can be roughly translated into "Crispy legs" and "bbq wings". For a sushi spot, they actually deliver some amazing chicken! But the whole time I was biting into these juicy drumsticks, I couldn't help but critique how they did against the KFC drumsticks.

The BBQ wings were thin, juicy, but not dried. They had a honey flavor to them and man do I love honey wings! The drumsticks were mindblower. You would never expect such a juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside from a sushi restaurant.
