Most of you probably don't know Gordon Bleu? The traditional Gordon Bleu in Austria is similar to a "Wiener Schnitzel". But the meat is folded once, then stuffed with ham and cheese and breaded.
So, if you ever come to Austria, order a Gordon Bleu instead of the Wiener Schnitzel :-) I love it.
But today I would like to present you a variation of the Gordon Bleu, where instead of the meat a zucchini is used. Many gardeners have these huge zucchini (which you never see in supermarkets) and do not really know what to do with them. Here's what you can make with:
You need:
One large zucchini
Ham
Cheese
Salt
For breading: Eggs, flour, breadcrumbs
For frying: Good frying fat
Peel the zucchini, then cut into slices of about 9 mm equal size. Thinly slice the ham and cheese.
Salt the zucchini slices and then place ham and cheese between the two slices.
Prepare the ingredients for breading in three plates:
Flour
Beat 2 eggs well and add a little salt
Breadcrumbs
The stuffed zucchini are now turned all around in:
1st to the flour:
2nd to the eggs:
If you're short on egg doing this, you can always whip up another one. But it's a shame to waste too much from the start.
3rd to the breadcrumbs:
Then carefully fry the breaded slices in hot fat over medium heat. It's helpful to use a pan where nothing can burn so easily.
Turn them round carefully, it needs a litte patience to do fry them ;-)
After frying, be sure to place them on a paper towel to absorb what is to much of the fat. If you make more than you get in a pan, they can also be parked in the oven at about 60 degrees until all of them are ready to eat.
And now they are ready, the zucchini Gordonbleu. Don't they look great? I've got this recipe some years ago from a dear neighbor who always very creatively tries different things in her kitchen.
I have also made delicious potatoes in my Actifry and a salad.
As a dessert I made yummi banana cake, I'll tell you this recipe soon ;-)
I hope you enjoyed, have fun with cooking and bon appétit :-) B.
;-) An Guadn ;-) Eure B.
