🇯🇲Jamaican Jerk Chicken | Weekend Dashout

A friend of ours sent us a care package from the UK. This package was particularly meaningful as it was clear that tremendous thought went into the items included in the package. Our friend is Japanese but she now lives with her family in the UK.

Knowing we are Jamaican and the limited access we have to some items here in Japan, she sent us a number of Jamaican products from the UK.One of the items was a jar of jerk seasoning from Jamaica. In this post the main ingredient I used was this jerk seasoning.

Jerk Chicken Ingredients:

Vinegar, grated onion (tears flowed this morning), Jamaican jerk seasoning, chicken, olive oil

Step 1
Cut chicken into bite sized slices based on your preference and wash in vinegar.

Step 2
Place chicken in ziplock bag and add onion and Jamaican jerk seasoning. Shake bag so that seasoning is evenly distributed all over the chicken. Allow to marinate for a while.

Step 3
Cook chicken on a grill, hotplate or in a toaster oven.
Serve when done.

Evaluation
The first batch of jerk chicken had more kick(pepper) than I expected. So, unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, only my wife and I could enjoy it.
I may have used too much of the jerk seasoning. Otherwise, the chicken had a nice flavor and it was great having a little taste of home.
