No les mentiré. Decidí leer este libro por dos razones nada más: 1.) porque es muy, pero muy popular. 2.) porque hay secretos en la trama. Ya me imaginaba que ésta era la típica historia de enemies to lovers (cliché que me encanta), pero me atrajo demasiado el hecho de que la trama girara alrededor de secretos y misterios escondidos de los personajes, eso me parece un toque extra que para mí es como un imán, las historias con este toque me encantan así que tomé mi decisión y no hicieron falta muchos factores más. Quiero decirles que este libro me ha sorprendido en maneras que hace años no lo hacía ningún otro libro. Por muchas razones me encontré a mí misma gritando ¿QUÉ? y también me descubrí admirando profundamente el ingenio de la autora. Les contaré a detalle las emociones que me causó porque para eso leo, para sentir y vivir las emociones que causan los libros, y para comentarlas, obviamente.

I won't lie to you. I decided to read this book for two reasons only: 1.) because it is very, very popular. 2.) because there are secrets in the plot. I already imagined that this was the typical enemies to lovers story (cliché that I love), but I was too attracted by the fact that the plot revolves around secrets and hidden mysteries of the characters, which seems to be an extra touch that for me is like a magnet, stories with this touch I love so I made my decision and did not need many more factors. I want to tell you that this book has surprised me in ways that no other book has done for years. For many reasons I found myself shouting WHAT? and I also found myself deeply admiring the author's wit. I will tell you in detail the emotions it caused me because that is why I read, to feel and live the emotions that books cause, and to comment on them.

*Narración y Trama / Narration and Plot*

El estilo de Alex me gusta porque es una escritora tan minuciosa y detallista que hace que puedas imaginar a la perfección los gestos de cada personaje. Me encanta la manera en que ella hace que los rostros de sus personajes nos digan una cosa mientras que sus bocas nos dicen otra, y allí va creando un pequeño conflicto en nosotros. Además, soy fan de los escritores que me dicen exactamente qué expresión tiene un personaje, qué efecto causó en él alguna palabra, o que describa los gestos producto de los pensamientos de ellos. Me ha encantado la manera en que está contada la historia. A pesar de que me gustan mucho los detalles, no negaré que se me hizo súper largo el libro. Incluso llegué a pensar que había escenas y capítulos que podrían ser irrelevantes para la trama de la historia, pero la verdad creo que todo encajó muy bien al final, solo que fue muy largo.

I like Alex's style because she is such a meticulous and detailed writer that she makes you can perfectly imagine the gestures of each character. I love the way she makes her characters' faces tell us one thing while their mouths tell us another, and there she goes creating a little conflict in us. Also, I'm a fan of writers who tell me exactly what expression a character has, what effect some words had on them, or describe the gestures that are the product of their thoughts. I loved the way the story is told. Even though I like the details, I won't deny that the book was super long for me. I even came to think that there were scenes and chapters that could be irrelevant to the plot of the story, but the truth is that I think everything fit together very well in the end, it was just very long.

Con respecto a la trama tuve varios sentimientos encontrados porque al principio nos hicieron creer que el libro iba de una cosa, pero luego nos lanzan una bomba y resulta que no, que el libro va de otro tema más oscuro. Esto particularmente no me gustó al principio, sentí que fue un giro muy rebuscado y la manera en que la protagonista nos revela esta nueva verdad es demasiado extraña. Realmente no me gustó ese giro, pero reconozco que le dio un nuevo y más lógico ritmo a la historia. A partir de ese punto sentí que verdaderamente entendía las motivaciones del personaje. Y esto no solo sucede una vez, sucede más veces a lo largo del libro en situaciones donde de pronto algún personaje viene a decir que sabe toda la verdad de los secretos de nuestra protagonista que ella tanto se ha esmerado en ocultar. Me frustró un poco, pero realmente sirvió para cambiar la perspectiva que tenía sobre algunos personajes. Una de las razones por las que este libro me sorprendió muchísimo es porque termina mucho después del desenlace y yo generalmente odio ese tipo de libros, donde el gran misterio ha sido resuelto, el héroe ha alcanzado su objetivo, pero de alguna manera el libro sigue y sigue más allá. La situación con Perfectos Mentirosos es ésa, pero es brillante y a pesar de que ya sabía todas las verdades que había que saber, los acontecimientos que siguieron me tenían más que intrigada, necesitaba leerlo y disfruté muchísimo de esos últimos capítulos, eso nunca me había pasado con otra historia.

Regarding the plot, I had several mixed feelings because at the beginning they made us believe that the book was about one thing, but then they drop a bombshell on us and it turns out that no, the book is about another darker subject. I particularly didn't like this at first, I felt it was a very far-fetched twist, and the way the protagonist reveals this new truth to us is too strange. I didn't like that twist, but I recognize that it gave a new and more logical pace to the story. From that point on I felt I truly understood the character's motivations. And this doesn't just happen once, it happens more times throughout the book in situations where suddenly some character comes out and says they know the whole truth of our protagonist's secrets that she has been so careful to hide. It frustrated me a bit, but it served to change the perspective I had on some characters. One of the reasons this book surprised me so much is because it ends long after the denouement. mo is because it ends long after the denouement and I generally hate those kinds of books, where the big mystery has been solved, the hero has achieved his goal, but somehow the book goes on and on beyond that. The situation with Perfect Liars is that, but it's brilliant and even though I already knew all the truths there were to know, the events that followed had me more than intrigued, I needed to read it and I enjoyed those last chapters very much, that had never happened to me with another story.

Me gustó muchísimo la manera en que termina el libro, ese último momento en la mente de Jude, el final de cada personaje, y sobre todo la trasformación de cada uno de ellos. Sencillamente espectacular porque este es un libro sobre relaciones, sobre odio, amistad y un poco de amor, y el nivel de crecimiento de los personajes no solo sobrepasó los límites de sus propias personalidades y experiencias, sino que también llegó a trasformar de una manera bellísima las relaciones entre ellos. El final: DIVINO.

I really liked the way the book ends, that last moment in Jude's mind, the end of each character, and above all the transformation of each one of them. Simply spectacular because this is a book about relationships, about hate, friendship, and a little bit of love, and the level of growth of the characters not only surpassed the limits of their own personalities and experiences but also beautifully transformed the relationships between them. The ending: DIVINE.

*Personajes / Characters*

Esta historia gira alrededor de los hermanos Cash, los más guapos y poderosos chicos de todo el instituto Tagus. Amé la manera de Alex de caracterizar cada uno de sus personajes, en especial a los hermanos Cash. Amo como todos son tan parecidos entre sí, porque son hermanos, pero con personalidades y temperamentos totalmente opuestos, muy bien construidos. A pesar de que ser hermanos los involucra en los hechos pasados de la historia, cada uno de ellos tiene su propio pasado personal, cada uno arrastra su propia cruz y eso es lo que le da sentido a sus personalidades y motivaciones. Me encantaron estos personajes porque cada uno logró su cometido emocional conmigo. Odié al idiota de Aegan, amé al enigmático Adrik y sentí mucho cariño por el pequeño Aleix. Aunque luego tuve que odiar a Adrik y amar a Aegan por circunstancias de la vida, pero eso es lo maravilloso de este libro, nunca sabes qué es lo que hará cada uno de ellos.

This story revolves around the Cash brothers, the most handsome and powerful boys in all of Tagus High School. I loved Alex's way of characterizing each of his characters, especially the Cash brothers. I love how they are all so similar to each other because they are brothers, but with opposite personalities and temperaments, very well constructed. Even though being brothers involves them in the past events of the story, each of them has their own personal past, they each carry their cross and that is what gives meaning to their personalities and motivations. I loved these characters because they each achieved their emotional payoff with me. I hated the idiot Aegan, loved the enigmatic Adrik, and felt a lot of affection for little Aleix. Although later I had to hate Adrik and love Aegan due to life circumstances, that's the wonderful thing about this book, you never know what each of them will do.

Con respecto a nuestra protagonista, solo diré que es un personaje estupendo. Fuerte, muy valiente, y con un sentido del humor espectacular. En su momento la llegue a odiar, pero superó mis expectativas en muchas de las decisiones que tiene que tomar a lo largo del libro. ¿Mi favorito? Adrik Cash. Ningún libro es bueno si no salgo enamorada y este hombre me enamoró. Lo amé, claro, después me rompió el corazón como un vaso de cristal, pero lo perdoné, porque es un personaje divino, me encantó, su pasado y las difíciles decisiones que ha tenido que tomar por aferrarse demasiado a las personas equivocadas… la manera en que trata de recuperar a Jude y su genuino arrepentimiento. Lo amo, además su personalidad es como la de mi esposo así que no soy objetiva para nada.

Regarding our main character, I'll just say that she's a terrific character. Strong, very brave, and with a spectacular sense of humor. At the time I came to hate her, but she exceeded my expectations in many of the decisions she has to make throughout the book. My favorite? Adrik Cash. No book is good if I don't come out in love and this man made me fall in love. I loved him, sure, then he broke my heart like a crystal glass, but I forgave him because he's a divine character, I loved him, his past, and the difficult decisions he's had to make by clinging too much to the wrong people...the way he tries to win Jude back and his genuine regret. I love him, plus his personality is like my husband's so I'm not objective at all.

*Opinión general / Overall opinion*

Leer este libro fue un poco especial para mí, soy del mismo país que la autora y a lo largo de las notas que ella deja al final de cada capítulo podía conectar con su sentir y su amor por la escritura. Constantemente me sentía inspirada por todo lo que ha logrado hacer una chica que es casi como yo y eso me resultó demasiado lindo porque es un extra que me ha dado esta lectura. La historia me sorprendió mucho por las razones que ya les mencioné, pero también hay algo que me hizo este libro: me hizo odiar a mi personaje favorito.

Reading this book was a bit special for me, I am from the same country as the author and throughout the notes, she leaves at the end of each chapter I could connect with her feelings and her love for writing. I constantly felt inspired by everything that a girl who is almost like I have managed to do and that was too nice for me because it's an extra that this read has given me. The story blew me away for the reasons I already mentioned to you, but there's also something this book did to me: it made me hate my favorite character.

Yo estaba como ¿qué? ¡No es posible que me hagas esto! Y fue muy duro para mí aceptarlo, además del hecho de que me hacen amar al personaje que más odiaba y todo es tan confuso que estoy mordiéndome la lengua para el final del libro porque además nuestra protagonista no quiere decidirse por uno de ellos. ¡Me estaba muriendo! Pero dentro de todo, disfruté mucho de la lectura de este libro, odié y me enamoré y me siento bastante satisfecha con el final, que de hecho es mi parte favorita.

I was like what, you couldn't possibly do this to me! And it was really hard for me to accept it, plus the fact that they make me love the character I hated the most and everything is so confusing that I'm biting my tongue for the end of the book because also our main character doesn't want to decide for one of them. I was dying! But all in all, I really enjoyed reading this book, I hated and fell in love and I feel quite satisfied with the ending, which is my favorite part.

¿Por qué no le doy las 5 estrellas? Porque me estresaba mucho la manera en como todos sabían la verdad de los secretos más ocultos y por la excesiva cantidad de referencias a películas y memes y personajes famosos.

El día que terminé el libro la autora hizo pública, a través de sus redes sociales, la noticia de que este libro tendrá su adaptación a una serie. La verdad me sentí encantada porque me parece que podrían hacer una serie fabulosa con todo el material que tiene este libro. Y espero con los dedos cruzados que le hagan justicia a cada personaje, sobre todo a los Cash.
