Traditional Wood Fire Cooking: Sauteed Tomatoes with Eggs

About this video

This video is all about traditional cooking one of the simplest yet very delicious dishes in my country, the Philippines. The dish is locally known as "Ginisang Kamatis na may Itlog" or "Sauteed Tomatoes with Eggs". This dish is very simple, it only got two main ingredients namely TOMATOES and EGGS and the rest are spices.

Dish backstory (how I came to know this dish)

My first encounter with this dish was when I was still a child. In the 1980s my father used to cook this dish about twice a month (because of a scarcity of tomatoes and we are very far from the market, and the means of transportation is very very hard back then). I eat a lot back then when this dish is served which is still true today, I still eat a lot when this dish is on our table.

Ingredients:

  • 750 grams of tomatoes
  • 3 pcs eggs
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Salt (to taste)
  • MSG (monosodium Glutamate) (to taste) - MSG is optional, it can be omitted
    Cooking Oil (for sauteeing)
That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
