Peperomia Pellucida (man's heart) and its curative properties

Hello, Hive Community!

Today I want to share with you friends of Hive the medicinal benefits of a wonderful plant as is the Toad Weed or also known in our country - Venezuela as heart of man, it is called in the scientific world Peperomia Pellucida. This plant is herbaceous, erect up to 35 cm, succulent stem, oval leaves in the shape of hearts and contains a simple terminal spike where they are as a kind of yellow grains similar to a mustard seed, belongs to the family of Piperaceae which consists of a dozen genera and about 3000 species, blooms throughout the year and grows in groups in moist soils and in tropical or subtropical climates.

This plant has a lot of healing benefits and therefore can be used as a natural option to deal with various diseases and thus maintain a healthy body and free of so many chemical ingredients and the best thing is easy to grow and because of its size we can grow it in our own home. Among the many benefits are:

  • It can be used gastronomically as many people usually consume it in salads either raw or cooked, also usually accompanied with other vegetables.
  • It is used in gardens or inside your home as an ornamental plant due to its habitat of origin.
  • In the medicinal world it has many benefits among which is that it can be used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibiotic, digestive among others.
  • For its healing properties it is used to combat diseases such as tonsillitis, sore throat, urinary tract infection sapillos and for this purpose an infusion is made with which once it is cold, gargle three times a day or perform a cleaning.
  • As antibiotics can be taken an infusion every 8 hours for five days and it can be taken cold or hot.
  • Also within its benefits is that it helps in muscle aches or joints, for the same can be made a poultice as the leaves have anti-inflammatory properties.

I would not like to end this post without telling you that I particularly use it a lot especially to deal with irritations in our parts caused by the sanitary napkin and because a biologist friend recommended it to me as a very efficient antiseptic to fight bacteria in our area. For this I just put some leaves to boil with the water I need to wash myself and when I do it I do it at least twice a day.

I hope you liked this post and that my experience will serve as enthusiasm to take into account natural medicine as an alternative. See you soon
