Locust bean is commonly known as IRU in Yoruba language, Dawa Dawa by Igbo is one of the West African fermented food products and also is a local seasoning used in different kind of stews and soups with a botanical name known as Parkia Biglobosa.

Locust beans have unpleasant smells and not easy to look at. But aside from these, locust beans is one the most important single condiment guaranteed to make stews, soups or mixed vegetables from just good to best.
