hi #hive friends
I'm Pravil Sabu. This is my entry on #earthdaycelebrationchallenge, #naturalmedicine.
and I'm answering the questions, What are you doing for the environment to help Mother Earth?
Do you have a message to tell the world about the environmental impact that Mother Earth is experiencing? What are the tips and steps could you offer others, to support the care of the Earth? Do you have any rituals that benefit our planet?

I CHAGED MY PLATE TO VEGAN.

It’s been 4 months I’m practicing to adjust with a plant based diet. It is not quite easy for me because for all these 21 years I was a meat eater. I’m gradually reducing the consumption of animal products. So you might think how vegans can save the our planet ? I came to the conclusion that vegans can change the world by doing researches through internet, Newspaper, reading articles, journals ,watching documentaries, Information or observations my daily life situations and from my thoughts.

Today animal husbandry or live stoke is a billion dollar industry. And also they makes millions of problems. Our general belief is that reducing usage of fossil fuel will prevent global warming but the fact is fossil fuels only produces 13% green house gases but livestock produces 51%. Methane is one of the main green house gas who is 25 times more danger than carbon dioxide. The main contributor of methane is livestock. They produce substantial amount of it from there digestion. But we never consider it we are only dealing with carbon dioxide. Trillion gallons of water is used to feed the livestock only in United States .Do you know how big this number is as compared to the other industries water consumption?.

Animals and animals foods are very water intensive. And here is a fact,600 gallons water is been used to produce a hamburger.is that ok do we really need to scarifies these much water just for a taste hamburger while the rest of the world crying for water. The 91% amazon forest which is known as the lungs of earth is destructed in the name of animal husbandry. Almost half of the land is occupied by livestock .we are even steeling the free space for free-living animals. Numerous free living animals are killed in the name of deforestation for pigs and chicken factory farming. How cruel it is ? .Plastic bags and trashes are no more the real reason. we need to change our view. Not only land, oceans and waterbodies are also under threat. Ocean resources are destroyed considerably in the name of fishing. Almost 50 millions of sharks are killed in a year. Sounds crazy right ?. If we use the grains or food products we given to livestock, to feed humans we can even control the hunger to a certain limit. From this you can understand how big the number is.

“We can’t stop all these, because they are billion dollar industries but we can stop us. Let’s make the world sustainable”

The harassments and brutal slaughtering of animals also made my way to vegan. I think increased acceptance of "backyard farming" and "lab grown meat", will be a solution. But lab grown meats are still in the stage of developments.

Is meat good for our health?

There is a general theory that, we gets proteins only from meat. The fact is animals are only intermediators they consume it from plants and grains and we consume it from them. Then why can’t we just eliminate them there by unnecessary fats. Meet gives us protein energy but we actually need is carbohydrate energy. There is studies that, there is higher chances for cancer in those who eat meat rather than vegans.

Now a days we can’t even trust vegetables, so I started to cultivate some of them by my own.
This is not after being a vegan. We always use to cultivate vegetable our own.

I BECOME A MINIMALIST

I started reducing consumption of unecessary products. I learned many things from it. There are many products we can avoid that we think which is very necessary. Take the example of 2 or 3 pairs shoes we have countless T shirts we own..... Minimalism is not a strategy it is a way of life to prosperity and sustainability. There is no rules for minimalism, we create the rules and we are the one to obey it. This pandemic and lockdown situation also helps me in building up such a lifestyle. The fashion and trends always attract us to buy more. If we buy more they produce more, if they produce more more resources is been utilised and destroyed. We are in a chain of destroying our mother earth.

My message to the world is "Consume less". Reduce the speed of the life and think. What will be the future of coming generation?. Will they survive? And what if we become the reason for the end of humans in the planet? Consume only what we needed. Why can’t we save some thing for our kids? Love of our nature is unconditional, we consume everything we needed then why can’t we show some respect to it. Be the follower of 3R’s (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle).Be a minimalist.

And talking about the tradition or ritual in our native to save earth. We people of Kerala, the southernmost part of India, celebrates one week as “sevanavaaram” as part of Gandhijayandhi (Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2 October). A week dedicated for cleaning our environment and planting tress. We also plant trees in environmental day.
