There are always reasons to smile, joy is like a seed that sprouts even in the most arid desert. Wisdom and love choose joy. Suffering is a choice. The right choice has always been joy. The question is how each of us chooses to handle the misfortunes that come our way. You may perceive it as an insurmountable obstacle and feel frustrated, and then you will have a problem. You may also understand that there is a lesson to learn and overcome, in which case you are in front of a master. We can stagnate or evolve at every opportunity. It is a personal decision.

Money? I have met happy people living in slums and depressed people living in villas by the sea. Nostalgia? I once visited a friend who was in the hospital receiving treatment for a serious cancer. I had never seen him so happy. He told me that the disease was the best thing that ever happened to him, because it gave him a new sense of values and interests. He was grateful for this turning point in his life. The charge nurse was in a bad mood and complained about her luck because she had sprained her leg.
All these situations may seem like the end of the world, but they can also be an opportunity for renewal, for revealing your personal gift or the magic of life. How many times what we see as tragedy is nothing more than the universe, in its infinite goodness and intelligence, trying to correct a disordered trajectory, ''conspiring in our favor'' -I say this in quotation marks because the Universe does not conspire, you follow the law that the Universe has to determine-, while we insist on intervening. It is a common mistake to confuse desires with developmental stages.
One thing is not always linked to another. Therefore, it is necessary to fail in order to learn how to act correctly. We delay understanding because we think we already know. The ego tends to shout when it makes its demands, so it is difficult for us to listen to the advice of the still, small voice of the soul. That is why stillness, peace and the encounter with oneself are so important. After all, they determine the vision that each of us gives to ourselves, whether it is of joy or sadness. Pride or humility, vanity or simplicity, illusion or truth, make-up or medicine. What do you see when you look in the mirror? Whether the world remains an unpleasant place or not depends on it.
Financial difficulties, health problems, the death of loved ones, disappointed emotional relationships, rejected dreams... many are the reasons for sadness when you see yourself a prisoner of the situation, or for joy when you see the tools offered to you to learn to live differently and better. Life needs disappointments to change its vision of the world, it needs difficulties to refine its way of acting. Life thus reveals its shortcomings in a strange way.
This is the power of choice. The difference lies in the amount of light brought to the will and the virtues installed in the being, so that each person really tells his or her own story. Whether we like it or not, every person's life is a story of overcoming. Every victory is filled with failures, mistakes and disappointments, but also with the determination to try again and again. Of course it can be done with sadness, but I think it is easier and wiser to use joy.
Each one finds the perfect lessons that suit him. Life provides the necessary tools and the right conditions for the being to illuminate the shadows within him. Neither more nor less. In essence, love must manifest itself through the various virtues that exist. The virtues are the instruments of the Light, and love is the most important of them.
Experiencing love and joy with the person we love, in perfect conditions and without problems, is wonderful, but it is for the weak. The challenge of allowing love and joy to flourish in the face of adversity is a challenge for the strong. It is necessary to see the hidden beauty of life. The love and wisdom hidden in every sharp turn of the road you travel.
Desires must be thwarted for dreams to unfold; life must be slippery to straighten the path; evil is the map that leads us to good. Necessity blesses progress, and if problems are well directed they become touchstones of virtue. Otherwise we will continue to confuse passion with love, knowledge with wisdom, artifice with true light. To understand the hidden beauty of life is to develop the ability to see the face of God in all things.
