Promoted posts have a percieved value to anyone visiting the site from outside HIVE. As we work at gaining more eyeballs onto our user interface, it's your post they will notice if it's been promoted in this section. A promoted post has to have more value, right?
As an advocate for the Natural Medicine community, I've been spending some of my hard earned LOTUS in the promoted post section, promoting content I think is valuable on the site. Here, you can see @justinparke's post on curry leaves, @ofsedgeandsalt's post on hiking the Colorado trail, wild tending and foraging as she went, and @derangedvisions announcement of his Homegrown podcast.
When you promote a post, what you are doing is sending LOTUS to @null, an account with no keys that no one can access. This means that the LOTUS supply is reduced, potentially raising the value of the token.
The more you spend on post promotion, the more visible you will be. I'd like to think that people wouldn't just promote their own content, but content that you believe is worth visiting and supporting. I'll certainly be checking this section from time to time to see if there's anything promoted that's worth me upvoting! However, please ensure you ONLY promote excellent content, and you're not just using it for upvotes. Our muting system and downvote system is also ready to deal with anyone who uses this in an abusive way.
How to Promote Your Post
It's super easy. Simply make sure there's enough LOTUS in your account (you can even buy some on TRIBALDEX) and click on the title of the post. Now, look at the bottom right, where the social sharing icons are. Click on 'PROMOTE':
Here I'm promoting @julescape's wonderful post on the golden age, and I'm spending 150 LOTUS. You don't have to spend that much, but I want to put it higher in the feed, so the more I put in, the higher it will go. If there's nothing in the Promoted post section (they disappear in a week) you might be lucky, and won't have to spend as much to be visible!
