Those Days like Radishes

A lot and a little were achieved yesterday. Started and ended rosily if there is such a word, but was a bit peppery along the way. Rather like a radish.

After the market, which was slow (mid-month often is), it was brunch, tidy and begin again. The Husband weighed the apricots:18 kg. I prepped jars and syrup. My stockpot aka waterbath will only take 4. So. Lesson learned from last time I bottled whole apricots: quick sterilisation means that there is less chance of the apricots getting too soft.

There is always a risk to putting cold glass into boiling water. I know this, and in the years (too many to count), I didn't have a disaster until yesterday. That was the end of apricot processing. For the day.

I went back to the radishes.

Thanks to that ubiquitous search engine found instructions for a simple and traditional Ukrainian salad with cucumber, chives and yoghurt.

It'll happen again.

Oh, and if you're wondering, the other three are perfect. To look at, anyway...

Four more today, and chutney. Will report tomorrow. Same time, same place, probably.
Until next time, be well

Post Script

I am doing my best to post every day for November as part of @traciyork's twice yearly #HiveBloPoMo challenge. This is my third attempt. Why not join the fun? Traci's full post is here

And then there's more:

  • If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
    • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I plan to add them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
    • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts because of this.
