The Feeble Gardener
____________________
I water all the roots I cannot see:
so nurturing long evolution's twine
through all the ages — grow invisibly,
you abstruse flowerfounts — you astral vine,
proceed through every winter-blasted feint.
Continue through the arid, hellscape heat;
mach on through with'ring autumn of the heart.
Take every fallen leaf and make them meet:
crumble them with every pain of art
and make my gard'nerhood worth ev'ry blist
as newer wonders burst through shattered past.
And every humble gard'ner you outlast;
you biome strewn with fire and with mist,
you lender of strong branches and firm mast —
beyond the dread deluge you must persist
to populate the ruins of the fall
while mortals take a wat'ry burial.
I do not wonder — not the thinnest shred
when I — at peace — allow me to be led
through motions made to fecundate the land
by wat'ring roots — my feeble, fleshly hand.
