O endless golden overlays

I sum the lucent synergies,
and summon now strange chemistries
soft-born of other starry climes
where other suns count other times
for other men to sleep away
the centuries — another day
escapes from me in stilted wisp
to sublimate into light-mist
that shimmer-streaks from lilted lips
of soul, unsaid — to spir-enlist
that higher ghost, that shadow'd sun:
infinite host, magnetic run
to join with all ye spirits bright,
yes I, minute — a willing sprite
to generate until rare fuel
burns much too low for physic-rule
of universe which holds my pace:
too quick the sprint, too short the race,
too wild the crowd, and loud the roar
which stings my timid ears — no more!
Fair overwhelm, existing's bane:
and I am something more than sane
in moments calm when flees from me
imperfect personality
in rings of step-ascending coil,
odd plasma noise to scream and roil
upwards, upwards — ever more
while numbers fade, still count the score
those hierarchies dimensioned dense
who transcend fear of human sense.
Cruel animal, harsh chemical,
dirt photon, burnished pinnacle
of stone and blood and god-delight
inwoven paradox of might
though lesser of mind-stature, still
you creature — take thy proper fill
and never cease to learn, to grow
to swell, contract — and cease to know
the obstacles to knowledge true:
deep ignorance now cast from you
and sum the lucent synergies,
oh, blinding synchronicities!
Now lead my fated hand to stroke
in steady lines the heavy yoke
of form-containment, freedom's surge
that silences the mortal dirge
with balance, grace, redemption fast:
thou lightning-change, angelic blast
to deafen and to stun my brain —
to burn out hatred, cold disdain
and demon-twist of thinking's curse
now succor me, aetheric nurse
so one more hour I hum the praise
of endless golden overlays.
