Are You Spiritual? Am I Spiritual? What does “Spiritual” Mean?

Love; the most undefinable word, and feeling, in all languages.

Spirituality; love’s runner up?

Straightaway, the answer could behave mischievously, toying and confusing the thinker. Quotes, opinions, and written definitions flurry a storm. The thinker is biased and to them spirituality can logically only be what they think it to be. Still, they understand historical to modern, cultural and ethical, lifestyles and experiences influencing the mad twister of answers to the question, “what is spirituality”. Straightaway there thinker thinks, “yes spirituality is quite similar to the mysterious ‘love’ concept”.

Upon considering entering into the Spirituality Challenge, I read a few blog responses and found myself mentally disagreeing with some perspectives. Or partially disagreeing. So then I decided that instead of rebutting, even if only mentally, I would ask my being what I feel spirituality is.

I had plenty of personal, biased, responses and they seemed to make more sense than what other people spirituality is. Righty-o, narcissistic one. And then I figured it out...

... everyone is wrong. Yes, myself included (excuse me while I put my tail away). We are all clearly answering the question wrong. Humans like to put their two cents and personal stories in everywhere. Instinctively, we reach into the treasures of our minds for everything. By jumping the gun and digging through the drawers of our mind, halting the thinker, we never get the opportunity to see that our final definition is wrong and the truth about what spirituality is was right in front of us the entire time.

So what is it?

Spirituality is inside of us. it’s energy, vibrations, aura, - whatever the many similar synonyms. Feeling more spiritual is that energy expanding and becoming more active.

And with that, some decide to do yoga, some go bungee jumping, and others float into a euphoric awareness. Some say drugs and “harmful” substances cannot be used; others use drugs to feel spiritual. Those are are simply what people choose to do with their spiritual moments.

One thing is certain, spiritualism gives everyone a beautiful gift of feeling alive; truly alive.

So, does that stumble this article into an undevised conclusion? Is spirituality life?

Thank you for reading my blog response to #naturalmedicine’s #spirituality challenge.

I had fun thinking about and writing this. As always, the words took on a life of their own.

I would like to nominate @edicted @ericvancewalton @nickyhavey to be inspired to engage in this fun challenge.
