Hive Music Festival -馃幎 Week N掳

Greetings, community, in this 56th week of Hive Music Festival in its second round, I want to share with you a song that has a very special and little-known story.

This is the song "Luna de Margarita" (Margarita's Moon) by the remembered Venezuelan composer Sim贸n D铆az "El T铆o Sim贸n" Uncle Simon, an icon of the folk music of our country, known outside our borders for his song "Caballo Viejo" (Old Horse) a song covered by artists of the stature of Ray Coniff, Celia Cruz, among others.

Sim贸n D铆az, a native of Barbacoas, a tiny town in the Gu谩rico State, was of very humble origins. Before fame hit him, he was living on the island of Margarita with his wife Belkis, amidst severe economic hardships. The day of his partner's birthday arrived and his meager income did not allow him to give her a gift, not even a small one. At night they sat close together to listen to the sound of the waves of the Caribbean Sea or Sea of 鈥嬧媡he Antilles, which is the one that kisses the Venezuelan coasts with its waves.

Suddenly inspiration came to Sim贸n and taking his Cuatro, accompanied by a sweet melody that came from his grateful heart, he gave her a gift through his verses:el the moon of Margarita and the Sea of 鈥嬧媡he Antilles. This is how "Luna de Margarita" was born, the song I play for you today.

Margarita's Moon

//Margarita's Moon is
like your light,
like your voice
As your love//

In front of you
The sea of the Antilles
next to me
Your simple caress

//To live, to enjoy, to dream with you//

//Luna de Margarita es
Como tu luz,
Como tu voz
Como tu amor//

Frente a ti
El mar de las Antillas
Junto a m铆
Tu caricia sencilla

//Para vivir, para gozar, para so帽ar contigo//
