This post is my contribution to the 8th contest held by @visionaer3003 in the Camping Club Hive community with the theme "Old travel experience". In this contest I will share my experience while climbing Mount Burni Klieten in 2016.
Mount Burni Klieten is located within the village area Kejuruan Syiah Utama,Bintang District, Central Aceh Regency, Aceh Province.This mountain which has a height of 2,930 masl is the target of climbers both in Central Aceh and from outside Central Aceh like us.
Me and three colleagues who both came from Pidie Regency did a climb to the top of Burni Klieten using a route through the village Syiah Utama use the pine path, called the pine path because around this path there are many pine trees. In this pine forest we had time to take a break because it was time for lunch. Actually, from the last village to the pine tree, it is not too far, but the path goes uphill and we left at 10.30 WIB because there were a few obstacles on the road.
After lunch we continued our journey by following the path, at that time there was only one path to the top of Burni Klieten. After the pine tree path, the path we faced was a slightly downward path then uphill, around the path there were large trees and some vines such as rattan. Climbing while enjoying the cool mountain air until 16.25 WIB, we stopped climbing and looked for a location to set up a tent as a place for us to rest. Our dinner at that time was accompanied by the sounds of animals around us, but we didn't pay attention to them.
The next morning, as usual, having breakfast and cleaning the camp area, we continued climbing to the top, the path was already challenging with a slope of 70 degrees. Climbing with loads of drinking water, tents and sleeping equipment until we reached the top of the Burni Klieten rock. Named the rock peak because here there are many large rocks. At the top of this rock, the climbers can enjoy the expanse of Lake Lut Tawar above the height.
From the top of this rock to the top of Burni Klieten it is not far, only about 30 minutes of climbing, but the path we have to face is in the form of large rocks that block the path, at some points we have to pass through the rock by climbing. The climb is quite tiring and passes through a challenging path for us to reach the top of Burni Klieten at 15.30 Wib.
Arriving at the peak, we immediately cooked coffee to warm our bodies from the cold weather, and prepared our tents for the night at the summit. That night we went to bed early because at the top it was very cold and our physical condition was very drained when climbing.
By morning we had woken up, the cold air made us lazy to get out of the tent. Some of us decided to go out and enjoy a cup of coffee to warm up, and continue our breakfast before packing up all the gear to go downstairs. At 10.00 wib by praying first we started the journey down from the peak of Burni Klieten.
