The habitat is in our territory

Hello Guys ... How are you today?

Happy Eid Al-Adha for those who celebrate it

(Ardeidae family)

Every location in this world, of course, has a group of creatures that dominates that region. These locations are on land as well as in water, even in the air also has a ruler who dominates the area.

The existence of egrets in an area certainly has a variety of biological riches stored in it, so that every animal lives and resides in it. The egret itself is said to be a water animal that often plays in it. Its presence in shallow water areas is one of its main goals in finding food in their daily lives.

(Ardeidae family)

The egret the water bird

It is often said, this one bird is close to the water, if you look at it as if he is one of the birds that dominates the water. However, it should be noted that, this bird is great not only in the water, but it is also great when flying across the vast ocean, meaning that it is great not only in the water but also great in the open air.

Their dexterity in flying, so they are able to cross the vast ocean and their group is also always successful in migrating from one location to another far away.

(Ardeidae family)

His agility in flying, almost every day, but covering long distances from one land to another, sometimes every 6 months. Meanwhile, doing flights that are still in one area occurs every day to find a supply of nutrients for the body in the form of favorite foods per day.

So that flying behavior is often published by each research team in several discussions that have been published in animals and have also been filmed in an event.

(Ardeidae family)

The egret is not a heron

At first glance, the egrets almost match the stork colonies, both from the beak or the color of the feathers that cover their bodies, but they are not from the Ardeidae family, but the storks belong to the Ciconiidae family.

However, there is a difference between a stork and an egret, if you pay attention to the distinctive sound of the stork that the egret does not have, the stork often makes a distinctive sound that comes from its beak, meaning that it often makes a sound from its own beak, by tapping the upper beak with the lower beak. So it makes a distinctive sound, like someone hitting a barrel or something.

(Ardeidae family)

While the egret never performs actions like the character of a stork, the egret also often makes its distinctive sound when calling its flock, or is repelling newcomers when in one territory, the sound is issued when flying that will attack and repel an intruder who is in a position of dominance.

Egrets also have each group that comes from its own family but the group is often seen of about 12 or more when going to another land, but their journey numbered several groups in one trip. This is often filmed in a children's animated film A Stork Journey.

(Ardeidae family)

Sometimes ordinary people mispronounce or sometimes they think that the heron is an egret and vice versa, maybe by reading this post, even though a little at least understand which type of egret and which heron.

This often happens because the stork's habitat also resembles the egret's habitat, due to this similarity some people mistakenly suspect this.

(Ardeidae family)

Well with that, I personally want to re-introduce the egret's morphology, as you will find below.

Egret morphology

This morphology, I explain based on their presence which is very close to our home environment, coincidentally my house is located not far from their habitat or location of existence, if measured it only takes about 25 menit trips by foot or by walking. We here also often visit their nest location which is not far from our home environment.

(Ardeidae family)

In this area (location map will be provided at the end of the post), there are only a few species of egrets, although their nests intermingle with stork species in one nesting area, or rather in front of the ocean off the Indian Ocean.

Among them are :

  1. Coral egret
  2. Big egret
  3. and, little egret.

These three species, still exist in our environment, this survives because the government in the village always maintains and continues to protect every habitat in the residential area, because only in this area can they live and develop in building their civilization.

(Ardeidae family)

1. Coral egret

Although in the above division there are small egrets, coral egrets are smaller, at least they are 58 cm in size. They also have two colors, such as :

a. Charcoal gray
b.White

On the other hand, their bodies look slender, and they also have short crests on their heads, and have white chins.

On the legs it has a pale green color, but its presence is very little because it often moves from place to place.

(Ardeidae family)

2. Big egret

While this big egret, also almost resembles the posture of a small egret, here it looks like he has a size of 95 cm, in the last few months, they have taken the initiative to go to a location not far from the initial location, because there is a new mangrove tree that has just grown. Mangrove trees also have a lot of potential for food, it grows in the north of the Indian Ocean.

I myself often see them when they want to breed, so they look turquoise and they are very difficult to approach due to the influence of the noise that comes from local fishing activities.

(Ardeidae family)

3. Little egret

Little egrets also have the same body posture, such as having a white body color, or the same fur and tail are white, on the head there is a crest and can be seen while enjoying this area or you see it in this post, if they are relaxed or not looks like in the picture in this post. While the size when it is an adult has a size of 60 cm.

The three species mentioned above of course exist and are still widely found in our area, here in Pusong Lama Village, Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia.
